Netflix/Slow mail
I moved to PH from Manhattan, where I once enjoyed the fastest Netflix service I've ever had. I would drop a movie in any mailbox and Netflix would get it the next day, sometimes even the same day. Now when I return a movie it does not arrive for a week or more. When they send me a movie it usually takes about 5 days to receive it. Could our post office really be this slow? Anyone else have this problem?

it has been particularly bad lately, for us.

I generally get my Netflix on time (i.e., when they say "For Tuesday: X movie", it's usually arrives on Tuesday); however, to answer your question, yes -- the post office IS that bad in Brooklyn.
If I have to mail something important, I almost always send it UPS, or go into Manhattan to drop it. I've tried to warn my family about this situation, but things inevitably get lost or arrive very late. Example: a simple letter from the Midwest took close to two weeks to arrive.
On the flip side, we get things from the UK in three-to-five days, so go figure. -
I used to have really speedy service, but it's been horrible the last few weeks - as much as I'd love to blame the PO, Netflix is to blame.

Buy the roku

I've got the Roku, but Netflix has been a mess for a few weeks now.
-
Yup. About 2 or 3 weeks ago they were backed up sending out dvds.
My movies were so late! :x
When you first sign up they send you the movies quick for like the first month or so.
After that they take their sweet ass time. -
1 more reason i just watch em on the internet !

I'm not so into Netflix anymore.I use to watch 2 the first day they come and the 3rd on the 2nd day and drop them in them all in the mailbox that day.Nowadays my movies sit around for about a week. Thanks , Ian.

I usually don't have any trouble with my Netflix. If I drop it in the mail Monday they receive it Tuesday and I get a new movie Wednesday. But, I'm not the fastest watcher. I've heard that if you really tear through the dvds they slow you down by not sending them out as fast.

I haven't had that much a of a problem. On my way to the office I drop them off in the city. Which might be nothing. Also, if I return 2 DVDs, I put them in the same envelope. Seems quick to me. Today I dropped in the post 2 DVDs in the same envelope at Park and 34th Street. Let's see how quick.

About two years ago I had my netflix account suspended because the movies weren't arriving, and I was having to report them as missing. I guess netflix got suspicious, thought I was stealing them, when in fact they weren't even getting there at all. I called the US post Office complaint line, and got a call back the next day from the Fulton St branch. I also noticed a change in mail carriers. I'm not accusing nobody of nothing, but things disappear in the mail from time to time.

I have to say that at least once a week someone's Netflix movie is stuck in my magazines. I just drop them back in the mail
-
Just got the email that the DVDs were received. Next 2 should be mailed today. And yes, 1 of them is Forbidden Kingdom.
-
They say one should be in my mailbox today. =D>
The other two they have not gotten yet even though I mailed them all on the same day going to the same damn place. :-k
I'm changing my plan to two movies at a time and I'm gonna try your technique , poppy13. -
Has anyone looked at their Netflix queue lately? EVERYTHING in queue is a "Very Long Wait." Guess they don't want people to have high expectations, eh?
-
I have 167 movies in my queue and only 3 of them have a "long and very long wait".
I'm moving those to the bottom.
-
Huh - now they're all available again... oh well, confirms my suspicions that it's Netflix that's to blame, not the post office...

Not all movies are available yet on that device. Just so you know. Look up the review on CNet.com for more info.
Got the DVDs as expected, no problems.
By the way, I don't think you need to move the movies that have a long wait to the bottom of your queue. If I remember right, it will just ship the next movie available in your queue. Or at least I would expect them to do that.

I have the Roku and it's great, but limited selection.
I keep the VLW movies at the top -
although the selection for the Roku is only 12,000, I was amazed to see how much great stuff they had on the list.

I think you can watch all of those same movies just by downloading the free nextflix player to your PC. (Sorry, windows only). -
yes you're right, no Macs.
