Where to watch Friday's debate?

And Caahyoko's event is on Friday at Commonwealth.

I'm a bit of a bus ride from there but if I can't find anything near me all are welcome to come watch at my apt. Beer and rowdy comments are welcome/encouraged.

Nobody in Washington thinks for a minute that he is crucial to them getting a deal done. Neither candidate has voted in months, and suddenly he thinks people are struggling to make decisions without him? Coming from man who said the fundamentals of the economy were sound only a week ago, it is laughable that he seeks to cancel a presidential debate to join a process that has been chugging along well enough without him.

Postpone it once, then what happens if something else comes up at the time of the rescheduled debate, like maybe North Korea saying more bad things? McCain bails again? Can this imbecile not multi-task?

McCain is trying to cancel the debate so that the Vice Presidential debate scheduled for next week is replaced by a make-up Presidential debate. In other words Palin is not far up enough on the learning curve to handle Biden.

Also, this would be an excellent time to have your stand-in, the person you have chosen to fill you position should anything happen to you, step up to the plate. Also, just saying.

Yah, like Obama said, no biggie. If they need him, they'll call him. He's got a big plane with slogans painted on the side and all. It isn't like these things don't happen everyday or anything, there are always lots of things going on.

After seeing that, I'm not so sure it's a bad idea to cancel the VP debate next week... well, unless it was for purely comedic purposes.

thanks for that. i think many people forget what a scary-ass impulse-dyscontrolled man biden can be. especially when excited or anxious or defensive. he needs a leash and muzzle and teleprompter to be not-detrimental.

Nice one. A VP debate will probably be boring, but perhaps Palin's sheer ineptitude will prod a infamous Biden Truism. _That_ would be entertaining, and amusing.

I really can't believe the audacity of McCain pulling this "I won't show up" bullshit. I mean, listen, you want the job or not?!!?!?! You want to fix the country's problems as you see it- then grow a pair and show up, loser!

Former President Bill Clinton believes John McCain’s move to suspend his campaign and push back Friday’s scheduled debate was made in “good faith” and not “because he’s afraid” to debate Barack Obama.

“I presume he did that in good faith,” Clinton said on Good Morning America, recalling that McCain had “asked for more debates to go all around the country.”

“I don't think we ought to overly parse that. Just let's deal with this issue,” the former president said. “We know he didn't do it because he's afraid, because Senator McCain wanted more debates.”

Clinton said on NBC’s “Today Show” that McCain is “looking for some way of, once again, to say to the American people, ‘Hey, I'm not a traditional Republican. And I do take this seriously.’ Because otherwise this makes it much, much more difficult for him to win because this is associated with lax regulation and the absence of economic activity in this period.”

But yah. The debate is on.

The outcome was up in the air Friday as lawmakers scrambled to agree on a plan.

But by midday, McCain's campaign said the Republican presidential nominee believed enough progress had been made for him to travel to Mississippi to participate in the debate, set for 9 p.m. ET at the University of Mississippi campus.

"He is optimistic that there has been significant progress toward a bipartisan agreement now that there is a framework for all parties to be represented in negotiations, including Rep. [Roy] Blunt as a designated negotiator for House Republicans," the campaign said in a statement.

"The McCain campaign is resuming all activities and the senator will travel to the debate this afternoon."
