Hi All....Today I feel a better flow of words on this blessed site. I truly mean
Blessed. I think the best thing to do is forget about the last few days and any and all comments or innuendos that could possibly and probably destroy this once in a lifetime experience that had united such a beautiful group of people. I really haven't felt a more sincere outpouring of love since I was sick 8 years ago with Acute Leukemia. Now that's a problem. Where and when our next reunion takes place doesn't really matter but good friends past and present is what does. Love to all I knew and to all I newly met. Debbie
Christina... The O'Donnell's have been friends of my family for all our lives. My mother and father were best friends with Dolores and Terry from the time they were kids. Terrry died many years ago but Dolores is still alive and looking as beautiful as ever and still their best Friend. What an indelible mark friends make on your life and heart. Terry Angelo is my Dolores. Love to you. -
My dear Debbie,
You are so right where the reunion is going to be is nothing compared to what we encountered years ago.The horrible 1999-2000 in my family and than u my dearest friend. dont ever want to do that ever again. So u r right!!!
you are my bunny lol love terry -
A reunion for next year, ABSOLUTELY. Where, when doesn't matter. Who we're with - each other - is the only thing that matters.
Anthony Umbria - you mentioned Blackie - his daughter's name is Michelle (not Donna unless there's another Blackie out there). Also, if I remember right, it was Jimmy Few Hairs - not Philly.
I'm glad I have friends on this blog cause with the Dow nosediving and my overactive imagination in overdrive about my job, somebody out there - please feed me and take me in when I'm jobless and homeless!! All joking aside - it's frightening. Who remembers the gas lines in the 1970's? And the similar market collapse in the 1980's? I guess it's a good thing I can't retire until I'm 112 - maybe by then I'll have recouped my losses!!
On that note - everyone have a good night and I'll check back in tomorrow.

Sorry I did not reply to you sooner, just back from vacation and trying to catch up. No, I do not get back to the neigborhood much these days. Pretty much only to visit my daughter and granddaughter. Also try to stop at St. Anna's. Yes, still doing my car thing. '55 TBird, '88 Benz, '57 Buick. It is my theropy, better than basket weaving right, LOL. -
KAREN
MY MISTAKE MICHELLE THATS RIGHT I AM TRYING TO REMEMBER ALL THESE THINGS AND NAMES I DO REMEMBER MOST BUT SOME NAMES GET LOST LOL

BY THE WAY MY GRANDFATHER WAS ALSO CALLED BLACKIE

Anthony Umbria
I was trying to figure out why I recognized your name. The last time I saw Ann Ellen was with my sister Edithann and she was having, if my memory serves me correctly, baby number 5. That had to be before 1984. How are all of you? Unbelievable how time flies. My 3 sisters, 2 brothers and I are all married. We all have children, except for my youngest brother who was just married one year this past September.
We used to spend many Saturday mornings at the store with my father just so he could get us out of our mothers hair. Edithann worked with him on many weekends. Do you remember my Aunt Rosie? She also worked with him? She is now 86 years old.
Tell Ann Ellen I said hello and thanks for your kind words. -

BUT YOU WHERE RIGHT ON MICHELLE -
Anthony Umbria
How funny. I guess my memory is not as good as I thought. Ann Ellen should get a kick out of that one or maybe she'll think I'm nuts.
I love hearing these stories about my dad. It brings back so many good memories. Where on 6th Avenue was your dad's candy store?
I've lived in the Bronx for over 20 years. I miss Brooklyn everyday. -
Subject: Reunion etc:
Hello. This is Old Goat. I have used your thread to find some old family friends. I monitor your messages quite often. I apologize for sticking my nose into your great thread. I see some disagreement in your ranks about your next reunion in regards to the size, place to hold it etc:. I am not eligible for your reunion but I have a comment. Finding old neighbors and friends like you did is a fantastic accomplishment. Actually getting 100 people together is just short of s miracle. Do NOT let petty differences destroy or damge what you have accomplished. Whether you have a meatball or a knish is irrevelent. Keeping old friends this long is very revelent. Take a watch and a deck of cards out. Time yourself in building a structure with the 52 cards so that they are all standing up. Now pull out one of the bottom cards and time how long it takes for that carefully built structure to crumble. Get the message. Now you can consider this the ramblings of an "Old Goat" or go on from here with all your great plans!!

DEBBIE BRODBECK SICIARGO,
The O'Donnells: What a small world. Yes, I do remember Dolores being very, very pretty and very nice to me. I do not remember her younger daughter's name, she was a few years younger than me and we had some good times at the beach. If you see them, please give Dolores my regards. Perhaps we will see Dawn one day.
I do know the special kind of friendship you are referring to. I have been blessed with many friends like that and we cherish and respect each other's friendship throughout the years.
I wanted to tell you, Debbie, that you look wonderful! I loved the shirt you were wearing at the reunion. I also commented earlier that Charlie did not change one bit from the days at Seafarers, honestly.
Also, your comment about being a blessed site is so very true. People are reconnecting after so many years and doing lunch and dinner together. I was talking / emailing with Nilda earlier today and I mentioned the very same thing. Who would have thought after years and years, we would meet again. This is so rare and so very special.
Be well for now. Hugs! -
Christina O H.....Dawn's younger sister is Stacey. They just moved to Jersey. She has 4 beautiful children, 2 boys and 2 girls with the cutest Irish faces you've ever seen. Her mother will be moving with them shortly. Dawn is in St. Isl. I'll pass along your messages and your e-mail.
Yesterday we had dinner at Terry's and were joined by her cousin Ralphie that she has just reconnected to. Charlie hadn't spoken to him at the reunion so they spent the day recalling the neighborhood and the fact that they worked together at the Seafarers. Ralphie even brought the tape of his cousin Bo and the song he wrote about Rocco's Candy Store. It was quite moving. I hope we can play it at the next reunion. It was a most enjyable day and one that would not have existed had it not been for this Blessed Site. A gift from Heaven I'd call it. I think we've all been witness to a miracle. I hope it lasts forever. Life is too short. Bye for now. Love Deb. -

I'd like to volunteer the first recipe for the Park Slope/South Brooklyn Cook Book. It is my Irish grandmother's recipe for hot dogs:
1. Put the hot dogs in a big pot of boiling water.
2. Cook at a rolling boil until the franks are three times their original size.
3. After about thirty minutes if the franks are bloated to three/four times their original size, pierce one with a fork. The liquid inside should spray out in an arc about four feet high. This is an indication that the dogs are almost done.
4. Boil another ten minutes to be sure they are cooked.
5. Serve, eat, and enjoy.
You, too, bloggers. Enjoy! Next time I will give you Grandma Horan's recipe for blackened bacon. -
OMG. I just realized that I published Grandma Horan's famous hot dog recipe under the blogger name "Janet Horan" when in fact, it is I, Marilyn Horan, who revealed the long held family recipe for hot dogs. I'm having a difficult time getting to post under my name. I think Janet has taken over my hard drive.
MARILYN HORAN -
BTW, the hot dogs are great just as they are, but if you want to fancy up the dish, let's say for company, you can serve them with mustard.
