No, Ian. It's purrrrr-fect. Here's to hoping they get a clue...
-
Ian, does your lease have a rug clause? If it does, I presume they have the same. Then it becomes LL enforcement issue.
-
Holy cow. These sound like my former neighbors -- two skinny "goth" kids who worshiped "industrial" music (who never heard of Nurse with Wounds or the Swans) and insisted on stomping around in platform shoes to Marilyn Manson between 1AM-3AM three days a week. I approached them in person and they were jerks. Good luck!
-
na... it doesnt because ive been in other apt's in my bldg and some are fully carpeted..i spoke to em in person too..and whatchu..yeah..they got it ALL RIGHT...
what did you end up doing Mr.Raw?? -
I've noticed that a lot of really skinny people walk like elephants. It's weird.
-
If your loud neighbors do not respect you, buy three very large loud alarm clocks and place them in your apartment near the ceiling and have them go off for hours when you know your inconsiderate neighbors like to sleep. After noise torture, maybe they'll be interested in making a deal.
My former landlord added a clause to the lease that required tenants to get rugs. Maybe your landlord will do the same since rugs protect floors. -
you too Miss.B
ahahahah wow... but na Raw.. i dont even want to show that side of me i would just step to em like you step to somebody who disrespects you in the street. its NOT funny or cool in anyway ! -
another thing that works is to leave your phone ringing when you are away.
Assuming you have a landline at home, plug in a cheap corded phone. Then, using that spare phone line at at work, call home and let it ring all day.
This is especially effective on people who party late, because they then want to sleep while you are at work during the day.
The sound of a phone is hard to ignore. -
aahahh thats a good 1 , i was thinking more like college dorm style like wake up @ 4am and bang on the door with a hammer...
-
Unfortunately, it's hard to do but you need to go up there as soon as they start making the noise. It's the only way that they will learn what it is that sets you off. Eventually they will think twice about what they are doing because they won't want that crazy asshole pounding on their door. They might even buy a rug just to keep you away. Don't threaten them right off or the next time you'll have to go up there with a machete. Also, keep talking as long as you can, nothing more of a downer than some jerk in his pajamas at the door complaining about some bullshit noise. Just don't lay in bed fuming about it!
-
Ha!!!! That note is funny , Ian.

You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar or at least you can try that approach first.
When I lived in my old building it was as if the family who lived above me were reenacting WWF matches 4 nights a week.
I finally spoke to them about it and they said they would try to keep it down. Nothing changed and I called the mgmt co and followed up with a certified letter indicating the level of noise, occurrences and duration of each occurrence. A week later I was fed up and complained to the family upstairs again. I was calm about it. The father went ballistic as if I insulted his mother or something. I invited him downstairs to hear for himself. He came and heard and there was no more noise after that.
P.S. The guy was intimidating, but nothing a little pepper spray couldn't fix. I had my finger on the "trigger" both times I went up there. -
ahahahah naaaaaaa .. shits been going on for OVER 6 months and i just let it rock for ever.. then a few weeks ago i had it.. she was walking around in heels at 315am on a fucking tuesday for like over 25 mins.. i thought the first thing women do is take off the damn shoes soon as you get home. but not this fool.. and i talked to the LL 1st.. then the OWNER of the bldg and finally i started leaving notes.. then i ran into em in the hall and laid it down !

my tenants are the same. she is like 90 lbs with clothes, he is 100 lbs with clothes and they walk around sounding like a velociraptor from Jurassic park.So damn annoying. I wonder what the hell they are doing moving crap all hours of the night. They wander in after midnite most nites and stay up till about 4, making noise banging stuff and moving stuff around. I could kick myself cause when they looked at the apt, they said they would carpet the parquet floors and they leave their shoes at the door and walk lightly and I fell for the line and rented them the apt. Its been years and no carpet and noise every freaking night. But I told them about it one night when I called up there at 2 am and asked what the damn noise was about. They apologized and since then they try to be quieter but they are still noisy as hell.
-
My father used to tell me I walk like an elephant, and I have no carpets on my floors. That said, I take my shoes off as soon as I get home and ask people to do the same (unless they are wearing sneakers or rubber-soled shoes). My landlord tells me she only hears me when I drop something....which unfortunately, I do often.

Hell, I used to think everyone did but I know better now. Apart from comfort issues, who wants to track all the gum and spit and dog piss and motor oil and crap you step in all day all over your living area? A lot of people, apparently.
Anyhow, I recommned use of the Mind Molester in these cases - provided you can get it in there.

So Darla- did he ever mention what they were actually doing up there to make that kind of racket. I'm always curious- there can't be ALL these people walking and moving furniture at that hour, right? It's just all so mysterious.....in a truly annoying way!

Drano, I'm completely with you on this. The streets are nastay! I take my shoes off at the door, and so do my visitors. The dog crap & piss is really the worst part
:puker: -
whatchuwant, he didn't say and i didn't even want to know.
there were like 8 people living in that 2 bedroom apartment ranging in age from 5 to 60. so i guess the whole family was running amuck at night (the freaks come out at night)! -

Yeah, really! Wear headphones. Or move if you don't like it. They have a right to walk around their apartment at any time of night.
I think you are really over reacting here and acting a little crazy with that note you left on their door.
I mean, you are not even complaining about loud music, or shouting, just walking! That is ridiculous.
Move to the country if you want peace and quite. This is New York City. -
Sorry, no one has the right to disturb others. I've said this before, I've noticed a lot of people seem to think they're above common decency.
-
lol@the fact that both of you idiots who posted on the side of these assholes who live upstairs from me tells me 3 things. #1 YOU DONT READ VERY WELL READ WHAT I SAID.~~~~> WALKING IN HEELS AT BETWEEN 230AM - 430AM & MOVING FURNITURE AT THAT SAME TIME.. FUCK THAT ITS NOT ACCEPTABLE ALMOST 3 DAYS A WEEK
2) your very young & dont have a real job
3) you either are the ppl that get complaints about the way YOU walk..or maybe you are the assholes who lives upstairs from me.. -
Yes, but they have a right to walk around their apartment at any time, wouldn't you agree?
I'd say you don't have the right to be disturbed by something so normal.
Howdy, Stranger!
