  • Bob,Bob,Bob.... Boy do you know how to spoil a good memory. Now I'm no scientist and technology is not high on my reading list. For that matter I can hardly find my way around this damn computer. However, I do know that my friends and family are dying pretty young from cancer. I myself had a run with Leukemia. Now if you can prove to me that it was caused from that friggin' dark colored jelly I'll stop my quest for the perfect donut. Seems all my grandparents lived to ripe old ages, but my young friends and family are dropping like flies. Could it be todays pesticides and artificial additives added to all our food. I think I'll go make a pot of my Nana's potato soup that she made fromthe potatos the vegetable guy was goig to throw out. They were probably the ones that rolled under the horse.( they were poor) Everyone of her children lived a long and healthy life with exception of the ones that had some side effects from the whiskey and beer. Now I'm sure some of my relatives and friends had donuts with dark purple jelly but ILL bet my life that it didn't kill them. So until you can prove otherwise sit back, take a deep cleansing breathe and relaaaaaax. Pour yourself a cup of coffee with caffeine and bite into a big juicy dark purple jelly donut and let your mind travel back to a simplier time. NOW if it kills you then I guess you were right and I would haved owed you an apology. If not I'll see you at next years reunion. I'll bring the donuts lol. as Franny would say... with love and all good intentions. Must run . I'm missing the debate. Bye Debbie
  • GOOD NIGHT ALL. [-o<
  • Hola: Debbie i feel for u that Bob spoiled a good memory, but he is sooo right. the reason our elders lived healthier and longer IS because they ate healthier. The processed foods they sell us i have always felt is a conspiracy, to kill us early, or a conspiracy on behalf of the drug companies and hospitals, they make lots of $ from people's illness's. So Bob is not so wrong. Eat well be well, we are what we eat. I have a great recipe for a Super Salad, let me know who i should submit it to.

But on a light tone, does anyone remember Safeway? i believe it was on 24 street between 3 and 4 ave. it was almost on 4th avenue. I remember coming home from school on a friday, that was one of my chores, my mother would hand me $, shopping list and the shopping cart and off i went to do grocery shopping.

  • Okay Okay everyone.I know all the things thats killing us. But all I wanted was a lousy rotten jelly donut! lol. anybody out there willing to risk your life for an old fashion delicious jelly donut besides me? Come on Terry help me out here. Carol D L,Franny, Judy ANYBODY!!!!! Okay back to the debate, that is the presidential debate.
  • Bob Horan you have alot to say there on the topic of jelly donuts !! LOL
True.... thank goodness for all the awareness today as compared to years ago. But also years ago things (like foods) were more natural, today we have to PAY a lot to get natural, organic etc.. Sometimes I think there are more chemicals / additives then years ago.
The jelly in the donuts looks fake & tastes fake. They were most likely as fattening then as now. I don't have them in the house but through the years I have never had one like Nicks.
  • DEBBIE
You gave me my laughs for today.....LOL

FORGET THE McCAIN & OBAMA DEBATE

WE ARE HAVING A JELLY DONUT DEBATE !!!!

  • HELLO IS EVERYONE SLEEPING????????????
  • Bravo Debbie, enjoy your donut.
  • Thanks everyone for all your support in favor of jelly donuts. Have I mentioned I'm on weight watchers? Look we all fall off the wagon once in a while. Well at least we had a few good laughs. That debate was getting boring.

Paul Giglio... Your name was like a bolt of lightning! My 1st childhood crush. Do you remember me from 146? I know we were in the same class for most or all of our years there. This site is really something special. It's put so many in touch with those we haven't seen or thought of in countless years. Hope all is well with you. Maybe we'll see each other at the next reunion. Bye for now. Debbie.
  • Hi Debbie, of course I remember YOU, PS 146, Glee Club, Mrs Spellman etc. Some of my happiest chidhood memories. Saw your photo on the slideshow and you look terrific, I hope you are feeling the same. As for me, everything is fine, keeping busy with five grandchildren and all. I don't want to bore everyone else to death with details, but do hope to see you again.
  • DEBBIE......... I'll beat you to 7th Avenue 9th & 10th sts. real jelly !!!!

ANTHONY UMBRIA - you should not have posted that LOL (donuts)
Also if you speak with Loretta tell her does she remember Peter & Carol 20th st. 6&7th and that we both say hello to her. We knew her before the ceramic class.
Pete thought she would be at the reunion. What ever became of Mickey , unless its private thats fine.
  • Paul Giglio your name is familiar ??? do you have a brother.
    I also went to 146 from 1962 or 61
  • CAROL,
I had to call Ralphie and Rosa last night because I was so happy Mike finally finished the flan. I had to listen to moans and groans of pleasure as he ate it. I f u were not n the room u would think he was doing something else. We were hysterical on the phone laughing when I called Rosa to tell her. Mike said that i should learn how to make it. I dont think so. Love Terry

  • Subject: Artwork

Thanks so much! I wish I knew where my darling Christina posted the link to my art site. She is slowly becoming my new agent, and not that I mind one bit! Thanks Christina!
I can't seem to find my way around here on the new blog. But I'm gald you enjoyed it. Do we know each other?
  • Debbie: Sorry Debbie but Paul Giglio was my first crush (lol.) Guess it was that white plastic school monitor sash and badge he always wore. Always loved a man in uniform(lol)

Paul: Hope you are not turning red reading this. But you did have a few hearts a flutter! (lol) Hope all is well with you. I really look terrible in the pics so don't believe what you see(lol)
  • Hola: good morning all:

Umbria: I don't recall the incident about the boy in safeway, and i also don't recall the polish bakery, maybe because my father worked for Ebinger's Bakery, they made fresh everything, Ebinger's downfall was Sarah Lee.

I agree Organics can be expensive if you are not a member of the Park Slope Food Co-op, that is th only place to shop for Organics and some really fresh food. My spinach lasts 2 weeks in my refrigerator. The farmers pick it one day and it's at the co-op the next day. I have been a member since early '90's. Fairway is nice, i go there for my water, they sell it the cheapest. I try hard not to drink water in clear plastic bottles.

    well that is all folks
    blessings and peace
  • Paul.... I see I have competition. Well after last nights debate about the
DONUTS I'm up for the challenge (lol)
By the way Paul, do you have a cousin named Butch(Louis)Giglio? My cousin Suzanne is married to him. I always wondered.
Hi Barbara... How's things? Just love this site and all it's done in uniting such a special group of people. Love, Deb.
  • NEW YORK (BROOKLYN) WATER -

Nilda - you have the best water coming out of the sink. It is the best and when I get to my sister's house in Brooklyn I have a long, hard drink.
Once I said I was going to fill my Poland Springs bottles and bring them
    back home. I never do.

We get water from a well here; I don't drink it - only bottled water; and I drink lots of water. I noticed in all my pictures from reunion, I had water in my hand and not wine (what was I thinking?)

Again - here's to Brooklyn Water!!!

    -------------------------------------------------

    Hi to Paul Giglio.
Remember you, and I went through PS 146 with your brother Peter. Glad that the Giglio Family is doing well!!!

    ------------------------------------------------
  • Linda Joy: I was at a wedding over the weekend and Junior and JoAnn Giovanelli were there. They are still good friends with my brother David. Anyway, I mentioned the reunion and Boy Boy and JoAnn said she was very good friends with him. She said to pass on their regards to him.
  • Fran, I agree, yeah to Brooklyn water.
I drink from bottles or my filtered refrigerator.

    Mildred
  • Maybe we can get Nat Guido, his brother and the rest of the 20th street gang at the reunion next year.

Does anyone hear from Ronald K.? He used to live on 20th between 5th and 6th. Fran, you lived there correct?

    Mildred
  • Christina O.H. I stopped by my Mom's for dinner last night and was surprised to find out we were being joined by Dolores O'Donnell. Itold her all about the site and that you wanted to speak to Dawn. She remembered you and your family well. I gave her your e-mail to pass on to Dawn. I happened to bring it with me for my mother to give her but was happy to see her myself. I really can't remember my life ever without Dolores in it. Ironic, what this site is doing. I think you have to be an outsider looking in to appreciate this miracle unfolding.God works in mysterious ways and there is a reason for everthing. I'm so glad he picked us ! Love Debbie.
  • TBone, there was sugar babies, candy lipstick, red beans, certs and sen sen candy in the small bag. All you need is only one square at a time. I hope for this to las me a long time.

    Mildred.
  • Marilyn, loved your retirement pictures, it looks like everyone had a good time.

    CONGRATULATIONS TO MARILYN!!! YEAH!!!
