  • eastern and washington Ryan Clock.
  • My wife just saw Maggie Gyllenhall, with the Saargard AND child this morning at Gorilla Coffee. I, unfortunately, chose to get my coffee at Heights Coffee. I wound up with bad coffee and no Maggie.
  • ^^^ they (Maggie and Peter) live pretty close to Gorilla.
  • and yet i always miss jake when he comes to visit.
  • Years ago i saw Mike Tyson riding his moto-tricycle down flatbush.
    whoopee !
  • Jeffrey Wright at Brooklyn Children's Museum.
  • WhyFi wrote: ^^^ they (Maggie and Peter) live pretty close to Gorilla.
Sterling, between 6th and 7th, if i'm not mistaken.
  • Amorina on Vanderbilt seems to be a good spot for actors. We saw John Turturro and John Ventimiglia (Artie Bucco on The Sopranos.)
  • Subject: entourage guy at shane plus marlow from the wire

about grenier: saw him there with his model GF / hookup over the summer -- maybe after they didn't get to bump the line at tom's. image

also at tom's, jamie hector, aka marlow from the wire, walked up behind me and startled the shit out of me. image

would have been way cooler to have seen the actor who played omar (michael k little, below) walking up to tom's -- looking perhaps for some honey nut cheerios.

Funny - I saw Jamie Hector on Underhill last winter and started to cross the street to get away from him before i remembered that he was just an actor. Have also seen Chad Coleman (Cutty) and Lance Reddick (Daniels) in the PS/PH. Plus, Andre Royo (Bubbles) used to live on St. Johns Pl.
  • I just finished watching all 5 seasons of The Wire. I would love to see these guys on the street, especially the guy who played Omar. Since he has that scar on his face in real life, he shouldn't be too hard to spot.

I had to spend a lot of time in Baltimore last year, but the only celeb I saw there was Bill Murray checking in and online behind me at the Marriott. Since one of my friends was a total Caddyshack nutjob, this made his day
  • I saw Joie Lee on Prosppect and Underhill. She has hypnotically light beautifully brown eyes. Would run in to her all the time in Ft Green. Wonder what she was doing up in PH at 8am on a Friday!

I you fucking kidding me?!?!? You actually ADMIT that you were crossing the street to get away from the black guy?!?!
I've just lost all respect for you, dude.

amen, brother. glad someone saw how f'd up that reality was. i understand the anonymity of a board brings honesty, and that's great, and that is assuming it's anonymous; it is for me, at least. the honesty just shows the condition of our hearts/souls.
  • I think Joncane (though I'm giving the benefit of the doubt) was making a funny remark that he/she was scared of the actor because of his Role on the series, then he realized he's just an actor not the role he portrays.

i think he's currently in a broadway production of the funniest film in history ("to be or not to be").

jamie now has the ability to see your fear and turn it into his strength, just so you know...
  • I don't have cable so I've never seen the show.

I thought about that for about 2 seconds. But then I came to my senses and realized that he outed himself as a scared non-black person who will actually cross a street when there's a black guy on the same side as him.
The fact that he then realized he was the actor is even MORE bullshit, as he thinks to himself, "oh, I know this guy, he won't hurt me, he's a ACTOR." and we all know how picture perfect those people are....

    What. Ever.

Oh and philmc? I'm a chick, FYI.

Whatchuwant - Get over yourself - I was JOKING. I'm a fan of the show and was pointing out what a convincing job he did. If i was at all startled, it was because my gut reaction was to identify him as the murderous drug dealer he played on the Wire. I don't cross the street every time i see a black person, or every time i see a drug dealer. Both are in plentiful supply around here in case you haven't noticed. (For the record, I will always cross the street whenever i see someone who is a murder - regardless of their race - but that's just a quirky policy i have.)

And as for "philmc" - I'm not hiding behind any anonymous screen name. I post under my name -Jon Cane. I'm assuming that your birth certificate doesn't list you as philmc, and there isn't a mama and papa whatchuwant. If you're going to criticize me and then claim that i hide behind a pseudonym, perhaps you should have the decency to come out from behind yours.

Neither of you who criticized me know *anything* about me, but are so ready to jump on a harmless, off-hand, light-hearted comment to try and find racism.
  • Good enough, Jon. Keep in mind though, we can't read sarcasm.

I'll never get over myself, btw. I have no need to. :P

fair enough. I understand the limitations of the internet, and that sometimes attempts at humor and/or sarcasm are hard to interpret.
  • I saw Jamie Hector (Marlo) at BAM last fall. Pretty hot.

Everybody get a grip. I don't know how many of you are black but I am and I got the point. The man was startled because his first thoughts were of the character. I love when liberal white folks clear their conscience by "defending" us poor black folk in the most anonymous pointless way possible. If Jamie Hector was white and Cane crossed the street would you give a shit?
  • MonkeeJones does in fact, "tell the truth"

I read that he's got a clothing store in Brooklyn somewhere and I saw a guy here at work wearing the shirt. Royal Addiction...where is it? Eh nevermind, Googled it:
A self-described “Brooklyn cat,” Hector loves an evening at Night of the Cookers in Fort Greene. “Wire” watchers might also catch Hector moonlighting at Royal Addiction, a clothing store featuring his fashions, which he opened last year on Tompkins and Decatur streets in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

For the record- my conscience is clear and I have no reason to "defend" black people to clear it. I DON'T have White Guilt.
