IT WAS LONG AGO
ANTHONY U. -
Hey Carol,
Thanks for your comments about my retirement party. It was nice and I was honored by the whole shebang. By the way what does F.B. mean?
My sister Janet was trying to kiss me to the song, "I Kissed a Girl (and I Liked It)." Wrong on so many levels.
Brother Bob was indeed shaking his groove thang so much that he almost shook loose the pretzel sticks he had hidden in his shorts.
I don't know . . .My mother had to have two practice kids before she finally got it right with ME. ("First the worst, second the same. Third the best of all the game.")

ANTHONY U. -
Dear Carol,
I just like to stir up a little sibling rivalry stew whenever possible. The truth is that as the youngest, I always tried to emulate my older brother and sister. My email address is [email protected]. I would love to hear from you.
The mention of the pink and white sweet popcorn brought back strong memories. It was almost as if one only ate the pink and white popcorn when regular popcorn wasn't available, because the pink and white was really horrible (I thought). It was almost shocking because it promised good corny/salty flavor and then it was colored like and tasted like cotton candy. Was the pink and white anyone's favorite?
My mother used to hold us and jump off the 16 ft diving board at Sunset Park Pool as a way to embolden us to do it ourselves. It was scary yet safe because she was there. My mother, Jo Horan, was brave about athletics. She liked swimming, going out far. She swam in lakes that were infested with blood suckers in Rhode Island, and swam in eely canals in Long Island, She liked to wrestle with her kids until we got too crazy or too big at which point she would start yelling: "OK! That's enough! What are you kids crazy" Then a little while later she would start a match again. Mischievous is what you might call her. She wasn't afraid of canoeing, or rowing, or of taking lots of us kids on the Hospital Boat where we saw some pretty sad cases, and got to eat peanut butter sandwhiches left over from WWI. She liked to dance and often got Janet and me to put on a dance, ususally a Native American rain dance, or a polka. -
Bob, put extra virgin olive oil in a frying pan, add a little garlic (to taste) and saute but not brown, put a large can of crushed tomatoes and simmer for 20 minutes, meanwhile cook you favorite pasta for the sauce.

Well, I see everyone is still at it.
Hi Patsy Miele, what's going on with you.
Hi Christina, great Volare song. The memories about Coney Island and Sunset Pool are great. The kinish place, and going to Nathan's for clams, hot dogs, fries burgers all, in one hour.
Patsy, send me your Aunt Carol's phone #[email protected].
She wants me to call her.
Bonavita Sisters
Which one of you works at the Methodist? I'm there now, so I want to say hello.
Hey Ralphie Marsella, how are you.
Tony Mei, I'm still pissing myself from talking to you at the reunion.
Terry-T-bone... what's going on with Brian Coen's wife's Denim Jacket. Do you still have it.
Christina, are you in charge of the next reunion?
We want you to be in charge. You're ideas and organizational skills are great. Call me this weekend.. -

MARILYN HORAN: i too remember going on the Hospital Boat, it was there i ate my first peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and it was my first time on a boat. it was an experience. The adults had to have at least one child in order to go on the Hospital Boat. It was lots of fun. We were not allowed to go to the movies, so it was a big thing for us to sit and watch a movie. .
BOB HORAN: i believe it was u who asked about simple healthy solutions for meals. i live alone and can't see myself cooking a meal every day, but on the other hand i am also not very fond of eating out too much. Let me share with u what i do. when i cook i make enough to freeze, i use freezer baggies and fill them enough for one meal. i freeze brown rice, then i steam it when i am ready to use it. i make my sauce and i freeze it in individual portions. i make my soup, but i don't put the vegetables in it to freeze, veggies don't freeze well. when i am ready to have soup i dice veggies small and put them into the soup, veggies cook while the soup is being heated. i don't eat much meat and whatever meat i eat has to be organic, i season all the meats before freezing and freeze in individual portions. I always have in the refrigerator to prepare a salad. It takes a some effort to prepare the food and freeze it but it is worth it. I also take garlic, onion, basil, parsley, (what ever u have in the refrig. that is for seasoning) i put then in sm. food processor, i freeze it in a ice cube tray, when frozen i empty tray and put in freezer bag. I also do this with what we latinos call "Sofrito," i also do this when i make sauce because i use my sauce as tomato sauce and whenever i need seasonings, or i need tomato sauce it's all ready. preparing the seasoning for cooking is time consuming, this method makes it easier to cook. preparation a meal for me is a joy and delicious not a task.
for me cooking food and leaving it in the refrigerator, i can't do that, because after 2 days the food starts forming bacteria, so i try to avoid eating left overs that has been in the refrig. for more than one day.
i hope this is helpful to u.
LindaJoy: You are right, i loooooved CI, we used to have a good time, remember Butchie going with us, he was just as crazy? i was a dare devil, i had no fear, the more dangerous and exciting a ride was the more i liked it. CI was just so exciting, Eddie my son, is lamenting the closing of CI, he went down that last week and took some photos. I remember when i didn't have a pot to piss in i would accumulate some $ and take my children to CI, boy talk about fun, my children now as adults talk about CI and they appreciate all of it.
WARREN (OLD GOAT) I remember Steeple Chase and the man-made horses, remember the mirrors which made you look distorted, girls remember there would be air holes strategically placed in the floor and when you walked over them they would blow your skirt up, if you didn't catch your skirt on time every one would see your panties. that was many laughs.
well thats all folk
blessings to all -
Good Morning all.
-
Hey, Good morning!!!
-
Marilyn: "Sibling rivalry stew" is that a recipe that you forgot to include in the post ? By the way, that was no pretzel stick, I was just happy to be there (dancing).
-
Anthony, I work for a Doctor who is president of the medical board at Methodist.
-
Hi Debbie B. Thanks... So you're not at the hospital. You work at his practice.?
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA HOPE U ARE WINNING BIG IN AC. LOVE TERRY

Anthony, I work at his practice right down the street from my house. He is on 75th Street, Dr. Seminara. Do you know him?
-
WARREN AND NILDA,
Did somemone write this i dont remember. When u first went into steeplechase didn't we have to walk through a barrel turning and turning. I remember the clowns hitting u on your backside as you were riding on them.
With my balloon business I do alot of Sweet 16"s and I still buy my jelly apples, cotton candy, popcorn from the same guy we bought from inthe store inside near the train station. He moved to Staten Island now. It is the same lady and man that was there when we were kids. I was called Phillips.
I think next reunion we might try some of the above for old times. NOT the pink popcorn Marilyn. lol CONGRATS AGAIN MARILYN ON YOUR RETIREMENT AND BY THE WAY I KIND OF LIKE THAT SONG I KISSED A GIRL. I never really listened to the words but I like it. Love terry ann -
Millie wrote: Bob, put extra virgin olive oil in a frying pan, add a little garlic (to taste) and saute but not brown, put a large can of crushed tomatoes and simmer for 20 minutes, meanwhile cook you favorite pasta for the sauce.
Thanks for the reply. I believe in simple for (tomato) sauce. I will also throw in a little salt and pepper......maybe onion......maybe parsley. Depends. I will say that at Russo's on the Bay (Marilyn's retirement party), there was one small, simple pasta dish served before the main course that I thought was delicious.....and it seemed to be a very simple sauce. I ate half of Arlene's also (she wanted to leave room for the dinner).
So anyone who feels they make great sauce, let's hear from you. -
ANTHONY OLIVA,
Yes I still have the jacket. Are u ever in Brooklyn or Staten Island? If so let me know, I still have marilyns bracelet too. Email me and let me know and Twiggy has my phone Number. How is your new job. miss u on the blog. love terry -
ON MY WAY TO PICKING MY TOES IN POUGHKEEPSIE. WHAT MOVIE WAS THAT FROM? Going to visit the college kids God help me. The less I know the better I am. Having a college kid at this age could either kill u or drive u to drink. Although I must say he is a good hard working kid seeing things on face book could make me nervous. Like sliding across bars in their underwear. Did anyone ever do that when u boys were young? Or how about in the winter sliding off hills in the snow and getting a call that they pushed your kid the wrong way and he went off a 10 foot cliff instead of the hill. Hi mom on my way home I have a broken leg. If I look alittle crazy at the next reunion blame it on the college kid and if you dont hear from me in a few days I will probably be arrested in Poughkeepsie for beating the sh-t out of the kid. lol love terrry
