Yup, I saw 'em as well. Made my day.

It looks like there's more coming on Park Place btw. Carlton and Vanderbilt on the south side of the street, right in front of the barber shop, muffin shop, etc...
  • There will be one or more in front of 475 Sterling Place, this is a new development and the developer will need to plant street trees to get the final certificate of occupancy. Most if not all developments have to file a "Builder's Pavement Plan" which details what the developer intends the streetscape to be, this has to be approved and certified before a building gets its final CO. I can't imagine any developer risking the CO for the sake of planting a tree or ten.
  • The plan for Vanderbilt median says plantings will occur "mid-October to mid-December." It's quite a weed-fest at the moment, but I guess a little patience is required.

Maybe they're trying to trap some kind of insect, or place some kind of repellent in the trees. Could it be for Asian Longhorn Beetles?
  • maybe, but the insectcide i'm aware of their using for ALB is injected into the root system.
  • right. they did the injections over the summer, at least around here. this was something else.

I saw these guys on Sterling a week or so ago - I think that the weights were just to get a thin/light line over a branch so that they could pull heavier, body weight-supporting ropes up there. Why they're climbing trees, I don't know, but if I were to wager a guess, I'd say that they're pruning.
