Don't know if you ever got to see the "Photoshow" I created for the reunion. Check it out. It was viewed over 1300 times. Too funny.

HI ANTHONY UMBRIA, IF IM NOT MISTAKEN DID YOUR PARENTS OWN A CANDY STORE ON 6TH &21ST. IS YOUR MOTHERS NAME VIRGINA, I REMEMBER HERWORKING THERE................JEANETTE
-
Does anyone remember when St. John's was doing the Fashion Shows? How about them Talent Shows? Classic stuff. I remember my cousin Michele Monteforte sang, "Paper Roses" by Marie Osmond and my Uncle Mike (Blackie) was cryng in the back of the auditorium. Another year, little Frankie Tombasco (God rest his soul), sang, "Little Bitty Rock & Roll Baby". He brought down the house.
Let's not forget the twirlers. On special occasions, when they used to have those parades along the avenue, they would let us join in. I think Lori Angelo was a twirler. I know Karen Bonavita was one too and Maria and Marian Tombasco. Margaret Castagna had the strutting hat made of the fur. My mother could not afford to buy me one because it was $30 at the time. She crochetted one for me and when we went to competition, I came in second place and Margaret did not place........even with that beautiful hat. What a proud day. I still have the medal.
This new coffee pot did wonders for my energy! Too bad my husband's not here to reek the benefits.
Am I the only fool on this blog tonight. Come on, on I'm fire!!!!!!!! -

TWIGGY,
I just got home trying to make some extra money. Lori and I sell Silver Jewelry we had a party at someones house. Not too good..OH WELL!!!!
I will need this vacation. Loi and I went to the city to buy more stuff when we got back to the car it was gone.. We read the signs but we did not see commercial cars only Well I guess u know what happened next. No the car was not stolen they towed it to 38tth St. and 12th ave. MY TOE, MY KNEE lol
We had to get a cab go to the towing or the city towing and find our car 185.00 dollars later plus a 35 dollar ticket. People were waiting 3 hours for their car. THANK GOD FOR MY MIKE He called the number where we were and they took us right away and took our money right away. There goes all the profits. What a day!!!!On the way home we had to go to Lutheran Hospital for Lori's Motherinlaw she was in the emergency room. NOW I am having a piece of pecan pie that my kids brought home from apple or pumpkin picking. Wish I was having a cup of your coffee with my pie now.
Wish I was in warm weather now it is getting chilly. I will be in florida on monday. Ralphie is leaving tomorrow will meet him monday. Love Terry -
UMBRIA,
I knew the castagna's. They lived in the same house as my friend Annamarie Romanelli on 20th street. It is funny, I use a desk on Wednesdays for ccd and the catholic school teacher's desk is Ms. or Mrs Castagna. I wonder if it is anyone we grew up with. love terry -

ONE IS FOR COFFEE (OBVIOUSLY) AND THE OTHER SIDE IS FOR ESPRESSO/CAPPUCCINO. I USE IT ALOT ESPECIALLY AROUND THE HOLIDAYS
BUT, YES THE POT YOU HAVE CAN NEVER BE COPIED. IT DOES MAKE THE BEST COFFEE. THAT WOULD GO GREAT WITH A FRESH BAGEL IN THE MORNING. -

Hi Cuz Chrissy: I was also thinking about buying one of those coffee pots myself over the past 2 days. Isn't that funny ???? Miss you a lot.
Terry: Glad the picture worked. It's a great one !! -
Hello out there Everybody,
If people do really want to keep this blog about the old neighborhood, why don't we invite everyone to share unique, interesting, happy, or sad stories or recollections or character sketches about the old Park Slope/South Brooklyn and its inhabitants? Whoever is interested could contribute and we could put together a "Book of Memories" or something like that to distribute at the next reunion. I would be willing to collect the essays, (sorry I am an English teacher (retired--hurray!) so excuse the word "essay") proofread and edit them and get them bound into a book. Of course we can use some of the stories already on the blog. What do you think? It might encourage the more reticent bloggers to contribute and would be great fun to read.

My mom's name is Gina DiLeo, and she said there was a family by the last name of LaGreca who used to live on the bottom floor of the house we grew up in on 21st between 3rd and 4th ave, with mom living on the top, an aunt on the middle floor.
Maybe it's not your family, or maybe it could have been your grandparents, maybe another LaGreca family, who knows...but like you said, we can be friends anyway, LOL! lv fes -

Jeanette, I'm the middle of 7. My parents had 5 girls and then my two brothers. My Aunt Rosie is still on 21st st in the same apartment with my aunt Lillian. Do you believe that!!! I was very young but I do remember the store.
Suzie, my mom passed away in '04. That's why we sold the house.
When we pass there I still can't believe what is there now. It's huge.
Anthony Umbria, what's on the menu for today??? -
Christina, I remember our day's at St. John's like it was yesterday, remember the bazaar's? Anyone remember the chocolate covered star cookies they used to sell??
Howdy, Stranger!
