  • Janet, John Barrett still lives in park slope. I see him occasionally. He still looks the same. Joey Barrett passed away a while ago.

  • Good Morning All: Been up since 3:45am

Debbie: Thanks for letting me know.
  • Subject: DAILY SLOPE

GOOD MORNING ALL JUST GOT INTO WORK.

    HEY DEBBIE, HOW ARE YOU.

OK HAVE SOME WORK TO START ON. TALK TO YOU ALL LATER. HAVE A BLEESED DAY :)
  • Morning All - Janet I'm an early riser but you've got me beat!!

Warren - Thank you!! I enjoyed your history lesson. Please, keep them coming. My father (long deceased) always told us that when it rained in Japan - he'd run outside and take a shower, there was no running water where he was stationed. He also told us stories about Gen. MacArthur (he was his driver). My mother (also long deceased) used to tell us about rationing. She also told us that it was a common thing to invite soliders/sailors home for a home cooked meal which my grandmother did often. Now for then, I wish I'd written them down but I always thought both my parents would live forever.

Debbie - Joey Barrett is dead a very long time. Patrick lives near or around West Palm Beach. His kids must be teenagers now. When I last saw them in Florida, they were babies, 2-3 years old and that was more than 12 years ago. I wonder what happened to Tina's nephews that she raised? Were there 3 or 2 brothers - one was definitely Harry, but I can't remember the other 1 (2)? Any clues?

I'm glad we have a history book going, but what about our cook book? I saw all those recipes being tossed about - red velvet cake, crumb cake. Yum - all my favorites!!

The boss just came in so let me do some work. I'll try to check back later.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Thank you all for your compliments and encouragement to keep writing. I will do so. Debbie, your Uncle Herbie was one of those few people in the world that you never heard a bad word about. I think God needed him upstairs and that why he was taken from us. I wish I could have known him even better. He was a little older then me and my sister & brothers knew him well.If the picture you are talking about is Herbie in Uniform, I remeber it well when it was in a place of prominence in the Brown household. :):)
  • Janet, up so very early? What's going on today?
  • Suzie, love that cup of coffee!
  • Millie: Not much. I slept too long last night. Making sauce and meatballs. My arm was getting tired from grating the locatelli, lol. I am still tired because I over slept.
  • Janet, it seems like you are just around the corner and I can stop over to have some gravy and meatballs. emmmmmm . I love to sleep at least 9 to 10 hours a night.
  • how come you have the word local?
  • I keep missing you Mil
  • Janet, Sorry, I just got back from dunkin donuts.
  • Debbie: Guess I got up way too early today since I did know that Joe had died but as I was writing it, I meant that Pat was living in Florida, not Joe. LOL, now I really am confused since I went back and see that I didn't mention Joey ???? Did I somewhere else and am missing it. My brain is tired anyway, he he.

  • Subject: HI FESTINA

    hi just testing.
  • Debbie- you are correct. John or (little John) as we used to call him should still be there in Park Slope. I spoke to him about a year and a half back. My cousin Joe Marsella runs into him when he is back in the old neighborhood. He gave me John's number and I called him to learn he never left 20th St. and bought his mothers house but I think she was back living there...

Joey Barrette passed away many, many years ago...
Patty did move to Florida a long time ago as well...

    LOVE YA CAROL
  • Karen Dritto: the Tina had 3 nephews living with them. In fact the had rented the two top floors in the building they lived in On 6th. Harry was the oldest, John ( Big John) and Domenic the youngest. I think Domenic was around the same age as John and I and I am 35 ( with 10 years experience).

Karen was your mother Mary the Crossing Guard?
  • Anthony Umbria The only Frankie Barcelona I remember was an old gent that would hang out at Negri's bar and grill. Singing the song "Down by the old school yard" and coming over to you and grabbing you by the back of the neck and telling you he was going to hit you with the hammers( hands) he was always making some one laugh . Did you check out that web site
