HI JANET,
-
ARNOLD FRANKIE BARCELLONA WAS A WW2 VETERAN. HE CAME BACK FROM THE WAR MENTERLY ILL. HE WAS VERY ENTERTAINING WITH SONG AND DANCE. BUT ALWAYS A GENTILMAN. HE ALWAYS TIPPED HIS HAT TO THE LADIES. AND ALWAYS A GOODMORNING & GOODNIGHT THERE SHOULD MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM. HE WAS A HAPPY PERSON.....MOM
-
JANET did you open the email with the photo's yet ?
-
??? I will check
-
Do you mean Sara Palin Photo??
-
With all that said, I loved running into Frankie as a kid...I wish there were more folks like him around. You know I remember thinking that maybe just maybe he was on the Ed Sullivan Show...
-
Do any of you guys remember climbing up the chain link fence to get up onto the roof of the Lab on 6th Ave.? Did you ever hang jump off the roof...Mom...ignore that last remark!
-
We used to imagine all the weird things that were going on in that lab. Since we watched Alfred Hitchcock, Twilight Zone and the other spooky shows, we imagined the worst.
Of course we tried to peek in there all the time, or look for body bags dumped outside. I remember this intestine like substance that we saw in the trash and it smelt horrid. -
So we figured that it was human intestine. We never went there alone for fear that we would be next to have our intestines ripped out, lol.
-
Janet
Now that is some imagination you have there. When that place closed down some of us found a way to get in there. Robert Ceglecki and I think Ralphie Virno played in there messing around. The place had a very weird smell to it. We never saw body parts though. -
Guess we did grow up watching macabre shows. Outer limits, Zacharie, etc. It;s a wonder we were able to sleep, lol.
Back to the lab. Guess they were cutting up a lot of people since there were barrels of the intestine like stuff in the trash most times, lol. -
They were probably some kind of hoses, except they looked like intestines to us, especially with all the horror shows we watched.

MILDRED,
Thanks for the information about Video Time. And yes, I have added Anthony and Mary Ellen to the park slope mailing list for next year's reunion. I've added them plus about 40 more people who contacted me via email. It's just wonderful. What a great group we are.
Love,
Twiggy -
ARNOLD,
We are the same age. Can you post your picture so I can see who you are. The suspence is killing me. I think I know, but I believe I suffer from the same illness as you (CRS) as you so nicely put it.
Michele Monteforte Cush was my cousin, but not James Digaetano. That was her cousin from the mothers side. Of course, I remember James. Oh my goodness! So wonderful to see you on the blog. I can't wait to see your pictures. Do you hear from Michele? I would love to see her on here as well. I think she is still on 19th Street. -

He would sing to all of us hanging out and then tell us that he had to go because he was going to be on the Ed Sullivan Show that night He always wore a fedora hat and would also impersonate Jimmy Durante...Ha Cha Cha Cha.
I remember the song Frankie Bassalone used to sing:
Shit the 80's were good to me but I can still dust off the memory banks for this stuff. I would never remeber these things if it were not for this page...Thank you all for bringing me back home....Thank You.
"Bring me sunshine,
don't bring me rain.
Bring me happiness,
I come from Spain!"
Poor soul was wounded in the war. It was heartbreaking. I remember feeling bad for him because sometimes he would go from singing a song, to breaking down crying, followed by cursing us out. I'm sure he is resting peacefully and still singing in heaven. -
Janet M Horan wrote: Positive 1: I am not sure, but john Barrett may be in Florida with his brother Pat and his father. I saw his mother Tina when I was up for the reunion. She is still on 20th near 7th.
Wow, Janet, you saw so many people. I hope they can join us next year. I remember thos brothers and I remember Tiny as well. She was so cute, petit little woman.
Twiggy -
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting a little sick and tired of seeing my picture on this blog. I think I'm going to figure out how to reduce it (drastically).
-
LOL Christina, Tiny ??? I know it was a typo but couldn't resist, lol. Tina is the same and never changes.
-
You can change it to thumbnail size and it would be the same size as mine.
-
I think this picture is MUCH better. I wish all of you a great night. I had a few friends over for some new drink I found out about, and I think they just hit me. Before signing off, here is the recipe:
White Grape Vodka
Triple Sec
Cranberry Juice
Lemon & Lime Soda
Mix in a shaker with lots of ice. A little sweet, but very delicious! -
So, where is the picture already ??

Arnold, I'll probably see John next week. I will try to get him to come on this site.

Debbie,

How the heck are you? I thought of you tonight with the new drink I made (lol). You see John Barrett? I guess I did not read far enough. Penalty for me for not reading past posts before blogging.
Patsy, I watched DWTS too. I like the brother and sister team and their partners. Enjoy your tea. -
THIS IS TOO FUNNY, YOU GUYS ARE HAVING "REAL DRINKS", AND I AM HAVING TEA. ( I DON'T DRINK ANY LIQUOR AT ALL OR WINE ANYWAY), BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD PUT IT OUT THERE ANYWAY. SOMETIMES, I THINK I SHOULD HAVE A DRINK TO TAKE THE EDGE . CIGARETTES, UNFORTUNATELY ARE MY CHOICE OF DRUG.
Howdy, Stranger!
