This Old House -- Brooklyn? — Brooklynian

This Old House -- Brooklyn?

A neighbor told me he spotted the guys from the PBS show "This Old House" on Sterling between Washington & Underhill last week.

I poked around online, and it looks like TOH is doing a NYC edition this year:

Anyone else spot Norm Abrams in PH recently?

    NO WAY!!! I love TOH!
  • SWEET! My wife was stoked that she was added as a "friend" to Norm on MySpace/FaceBook/Whatever, now she's going to be stalking.
  • Oh I'm excited!

How sad. I'm way more excited about This Old House in Brooklyn than I was about The Real World.

I guess this proves I really am no longer young....

  • very cool. Combined with "Under Construction" on DIY Brooklyn, is becoming the renovation capital
  • So excited!! I wonder how long production takes on that show. I don't want to wait a year :D/
  • Well folks...this is exciting but let's wait to confirm.

All I've got now is a call for entries from this summer and a second-hand sighting from last week. It could be they are still considering finalists, etc. I can't find any press announcements online verifying a final site pick.

I was hoping someone else might have some additional info...

True enough, but not to old to get one big collective Boner! I'm thinkin' HARD!
  • I'll bet there's a few more criteria than have been published. They'll probably do a search of the Housing Court records to make sure that the home owner/s didn't evict rent stabilized tenants for owner occupation. That'll cut the numbers in Brooklyn down substantially.
  • Wicked pissah! We should be writing this thread in a mwock Bah-stin accent in Naahm's ah-nah!
  • I live near the house they're working on (on Sterling) and the handyman who works on my landlord's place asked -- and they confirmed -- that they were in fact a crew from This Old House. Considering how long it will probably take to complete the renovation, I think we can all expect to see them again over the next 6 months or so.
  • Which house is it??? I love Norm!
  • I think they should have a blooper edition showing all the things that can and often do go wrong.
  • It's too bad Brownstoner and OTBKB don't give props to DH for getting on the story first...

btw...I knew the address from the get-go (I am acquainted with the owner), but decided to leave a bit of mystery to it...
  • Should be fun to watch develop.....maybe we can all be invited to their "after party"....
