Anybody really good at Power Point?
I'm doing a presentation and I want to add stoplight colors within a text table. My work friend (who isn't available this weekend) told me the best way to do this is to insert a character (likely an oval) from wingdings, and then change the color to red/yellow/green.
I found one that would work, went to character map and now can't get it into the document. I've tried copy/paste and also using the NUM LOCK + ALT+ code and zip. Nothing. Nada.
HALP ME!

Try this, sometimes it works. Paste the charater into a blank word document. If it appears without any difficulty, copy it and paste it into your powerpoint doc.

Another thing to try is pasting it into a text box. See if it will appear that way.

There's always the ellipse drawing tool. Or stealing a picture what you want off google images and inserting it where you want it.

thanks, Dr. J, but then I have to resize it. There are 3-4 items in each text box within the table, so I need 3-4 small stoplights/colors/ovals in each box. I tried grabbing an image, but then I had to shrink them all and line them up, etc. It was an enormous pain in the ass.

Flexi, did you try grouping all the ovals within the text box so you can shrink them to the same size then ungroup to line up?
Once they are lined up you can have each oval fly in for added impact. -
maybe I'm reading wrong, but if you're using the same images multiples time, you could probably just get one sized properly and then copy/paste it to get more.
Powerpoint can be frustrating...you really just want to convey an idea or info but you often end up having to spend way too much time on things like the ovals. Good luck.
