cablevision - keeps jacking prices! any other choices?

i mean, i get that promotional rates don't last forever. however i do think that more than DOUBLING the price of the promotional rate is a little absurd, especially in light of the fact that customers don't have the option to switch to a different provider or negotiate a better rate with the threat of jumping ship in order to make the threat to cablevision more credible.
i actually wasn't even a triple play customer - i have no use for a landline whatsoever. i was receiving a promo rate for cable and internet. when that promo ended, my bill skyrocketed. i then called to sign up for triple play and was told i was not eligible. super frustrating considering i am bombarded with those wack ass commercials for triple play, AND get postcards in the mail advertising it!!! in sum, i hate cablevision. but i like tv. woe is me. -
My gf didn't have cable in her apt, and with the advent of broadcasters putting shows online we might not get it for the new place

Why not just examine the direction of anyone else's in the neighborhood, and compare?. Can't imagine there's too many seconds of arc difference from one building to the next. For extra accuracy, take your theodolite and compass with you when scoping your neighbor's dish, and have a good excuse handy, like you're part of an alien-attack preparedness initiative. -

When I told cablevision I was cancelling the TV they couldn't throw enough deals at me. I wound up getting internet free for 3 months.....then I canelled when I had to pay again and went with FIOS.....I HATE CABLEVISION!!!!

Has anyone else had issues with the Brooklyn Museum wifi lately? Hasn't been showing up on my wifi the last couple weeks...
