One of my favorite novels was Irving Schulman's Amboy Dukes from 1947. It was a very striking portrayal of life in East New York and remains as relevant as ever.

One aspect of that novel and of life in ENY and of Brooklyn was the many boxing clubs that existed in the old days. My suggestion for this forum is for members to post photos of some of those old clubs.

We had one at Livonia Avenue and Georgia Avenue in ENY but for the life of my I cannot remember the club's name. We had several more on Sutter and on Pitkin Avenue. Please post if you have photos.

I must say I am so proud to see all of you add SO MUCH to this Board after a very long hiatus pour moi (sniff-sniff). I am touched it took off.
