new board and bike shop on vandy thread?

Hey guys,

A fantastic neighbor of mine sent me a link to this post, seeing as it was the FIRST press I've received about the shop. !!!!

Let me just give you all a quick run down of what I'm about.

But before that, a side note:

I hope my shop comes as a comfort to those that fear a world where hipsters make decisions as to who lives and who dies. And who also believe that if you are one of the unfortunate ones who does get the ax, that you will be going to a world run by the Gap and Dunkin' Donuts.

Fear not, true disciple's of what is true. You re not being conquered.

No, no. We (well... right now I... ) at Brooklyn Bike and Board are good people. People who love bikes and love this borough. People that want to go from point A to point B. And want to do it well.

We are a shop geared towards the commuter and urban cyclist. We'll carry lots of blinkey's, fenders, hoody's, wool clothing... Functional accessories. Cool products.

Our bike's will be old, classic rebuilds. Bikes that are solid, sturdy, and reliable. Single speeds, Dutch cruisers, Fixed gears (gasp!), BMX's, and Comfort cruisers. And, maybe... perhaps... some new bikes in the future.

We'll be low key, hard working, and friendly.

And that's it. Nothing scary. Nothing evil. Just good clean fun.

And as far as Mike is concerned, well, all I can say is good luck to him. He's a great mechanic and runs a good shop. I hope the best for him and know that he will continue to be successful. And I know he'll be successful no matter who moves into the old space. But it was his decision to leave and no one else's. He made a decision that was best for his business. Which is what every business owner does day in and day out.

If you have any more questions, concerns, or just plan rants, you know where to find me. Or, if you prefer, [email protected].

  • there is alleged to be a thread called "new bike and board shop on vandy" on this page with 55 posts on it but it is labeled "moved" and seems to have no forwarding address. searches for the contents of the thread come up empty.

can anyone shed any light on whether there is indeed a new b&b shop in the hood or the whereabouts of this thread?
  • There is, in the old Bicycle Station location. The thread was moved offsite because of some ugliness between 2 longstanding posters here.

I will try to merge in the post by the new store's owner.

EDIT: Done. It's first though, because when we merge posts, phpbb does it chronologically.
  • I look forward to the new shop... hopefully you guys will carry polished Deep Vs and used track bike parts, there is a big fixed gear community here

It did start to sound like the "Red Zone" scene in the beginning of Airplane, didn't it?
