twitter group: #brooklynian <-test it out!
Hi twitterers - I think we finally stepped into the 21st century on the whole twitter thing. We created a #brooklynian twitter group, of sorts:
http://www.brooklynian.com/test/twitter-feed.php
If you tag your tweets with #brooklynian, they should show up on that feed (NOT immediately, since there may be a delay while feedburner updates).
Eventually we'll move this to a new home. Now it's just living on this test page.
Lemme know what you think.

its microblogging. you send short txt msgs from your phone or the web to update your "twitter blog" so all your friends on there can see what youve been up to.
as for what it can do for you... well, on a personal level, it will help you waste lots of time and make you forget that youre putting lots of personal info out there for the world to see. but as for what it can do for a website, its an easy way to syndicate feed-via-subscription and drive more targeted traffic to said site which benefits the site in terms of increased ad revenue and benefits the userbase by bringing in a fresh stream of 'pre-screened' folks, new voices and more up-to-date information. in other words, it gives more visibility and opportunities for interested people to find the site by their own surfing, which is a great alternative to things like spam, crossposting or junk email-list mailings. -
Why thank you - I like anything I can waste company time on

Oh - and nice to see you back Rhodamine! -

well, the app really shines via mobile... just make sure you got that unlimited txt plan before diving in, hehehe.
Oh - and nice to see you back Rhodamine!

indeed! which has played a big part in socializing me enough to have a grasp on the finer points of basic social interaction which indicate that dissing strangers is rude.
coming into a thread just to make fun of people is always choice. stay classy, dude! -

Actually I was trying to be self effacing. I was pretending that I was the odd man out (with no friends). A presumption that like me, you were all a bunch of lonely turds. No insult was intended. -
aw, modsquad's gone soft!
we <3 you too, man. -
Well... maybe a little flaccid

Aww, geez, I laughed my ass off on this one! Too much!! -
Yeah, I don't know if I like the RSS feed on twitter. Too much noise. And, the content is cut off because twitter is 140 characters max.
I suggest turning that off because that's going to blow up twitterstreams with stuff people don't want to read - on twitter.
RSS/Twitter two different things. Twitter supposed to be short stuff. I suggest having someone actually write stuff, like post of the day, or something. And, don't forget to follow your followers.
I want brooklynian on twitter to work! -
Brooklynian had a facebook this whole time?!
I'm gonna go make a pertty page and join it.

well, no one is forcing anyone to subscribe to it, so... i guess people are still free to not have to read things they havent signed up for.
with twitterfeed, you basically get a condensed blurb about the newly posted topic and/or tags as well as a link so that if it looks interesting, you can click through and check it out more closely, and if it doesnt utterly fascinate you, you can move on to the next one.
cause frankly, i dont know any actual twitterers who arent already awash in txt overload, and they do tend to be a focused (obsessive?) bunch, so i dont think "blowing up people's streams" is going to be much of an issue. especially if they sign up for it willingly and knowingly. -

indeed. er, or its butt, at least... -
I used to have a Stella but I sold it for my moving to NY money. I rode 365 days a year. I miss it terribly & am saving up to buy either a vintage Vespa or another Stella, hopefully by spring. Always nice to meet other riders!

Twitterfeed isn't very engaging and ignores that many read twitter on their phones, thus clicking that link will open a web browser. And, twitter isn't an RSS reader; so why treat it as such?
Plus, using Twitter as a way to broadcast information from another site is one-way and not conducive to interaction. Twitter works best when there's active, real posting and @replies.
I followed, didn't like what I saw, and promptly unfollowed. Brooklynian is new to twitter, I love twitter and I love Brooklynian. So, whoever's manning it can read your opinion and mine and come to a decision they feel works best. -

Hey, hey now.
You both have good points. We could always do 2 twitter accounts. -
dailyheights wrote: Hey, hey now. You both have good points. We could always do 2 twitter accounts.
i was kidding, btw...
perhaps we could make two twitters and have them send their feeds to each other and implode the universe via infinite-loop feedback! -
damn brooklynian twitter and facebook? time to get into that!
