Verizon Fios service — Brooklynian

Verizon Fios service

So I signed up for the triple service (internet, phone, and TV) and a tech was schedualed to come over today from 8am -12pm to install the service. Its 2:50pm now and no one showed. I called the company and was on hold for over an hour. They took my number down and informed me that I am definitly schedualed to have the service hooked up today and they have no idea why the tech is not around. They said they will forward the number to the tech who still has not called :x

This does not look good for verizon at all. I wanted to know if anyone else got their Fios service and if they are happy with it.

Thanks in advance.

  • Update - Its 3:15pm and I just got a call from verizon to let me know that they don't have any techs available today and that I would have to reschedual.

I took a day off work and sat around from 8am like an idiot waiting for these guys!!! At least they could have called me in the morning and informed me and the others who were schedualed to have installation today that the techs are not available.

I informed verizon that due to their horrible customer service, I will not want to do buisness with them and to cancel my account.
  • i HATE them.... but its cold as hell out so be happy your indoors !
  • I know you are frustrated but I would call the corporate offices and complain. You took off from work. They would have to compensate me somehow .That really sucks...time warner is good for that too. Giving you a window and being fashionably late. I always complain and get month for free or a premium channel free for a month or 2 or 3.
  • I just moved and transferring our Verizon service was a TOTAL nightmare. I don't know what happened, because they used to be super responsive in the past.

Actually, I know what happened, they outsourced customer service to India, and the goal has changed from actually providing customer service-- to shuttling you around and ultimately disconnecting you.

    1. They refused to take down our address correctly, insisting that we lived at the building next door, not our actual building.

    2. A tech comes out to install, and sees that Verizon has not turned on our line. Says he will notify Verizon and call us to see if everything works. He calls, but the service still doesn't work. We begin to suspect that our building is not properly wired for phone/DSL.

    3. Days of calling Verizon ensue where they insist it is our modem that is at fault. They only agree to send out another tech when we threaten to cancel service. But they cannot get a tech our for four days.

    4. Also, they can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that it would be a bad idea to call you on a phone line that isn't properly set up, and to instead reach you on your cell phone, regardless of how many times you try to tell them, they just don't get it.

    5. The day the tech is to arrive, they give us a window of 8AM-6PM. Jerks.
This time we demand something more concrete, and they say before noon.
We had to again remind them to call on the cell phone, because the landline is not working.

    6. Noon, one and two pm pass, no sign of the tech. Calls were made. India says that the tech is still coming. Three PM, no sign of the tech, India says tech couldn't get ahold of us and cancelled the appointment. Rage ensues, the final threat is made, if no tech shows up in 10 minutes, we want our service cancelled and would be switching to cable.

    7. Tech shows up mid-rant. Assesses problem and says, well your building isn't hooked up to the service properly, does a portion of the install and to his credit comes back the very next morning-a Saturday-to finish.

All in all, this nightmare took two weeks. We didn't want to switch to cable because it is so much more expensive, but I swear, I wouldn't wish Verizon customer service on my worst enemy.
