I found my fire escape ladder down a few months back but no evidence of break-in. I wonder.....

"roofman building" has a nice ring....
In elevator buildings, you can just make it a part of the job description that they do an hourly round to check the roof (and whatever other locations). Bit harder to require that in a 5-storey walkup. -
Subject: re: burglaries
If anyone (Anfield perhaps!) thinks they can identify additional potential perpetrators they should call the 77 Detective Squad @ 735-0661. There have been a lot of burglaries and could be a lot more if potential witnesses decide not to come forward. -
We put up sensors that turn lights on the roof. Crooks freak out when they come onto our building. They were doing it a lot last summer, now no more.
-
I will defiantely put a sensor on my hatch door.

i think there are more then just 2 kids breaking in are homes. from what i heard they got in through the rear window off the fire escape. most of the time people left there window unlocked. come on people you live in crown heights not kansas anymore lock your windows and doors. i even got my landlord to but bars on my windows and i call the police if i see anything

This wasn't in Crown Heights. -
This wasn't in Crown Heights.
I think you missed the point of the post. -

I didn't miss the point of the post. I was just correcting the part of it I disagreed with.

Subject: See something, say something
If anyone else on this blog has experienced break-in attempts, please call the 77th right away. They're trying to build a useful case and get to the source (ie: maybe not only two 14-year-olds -- yes, they're actually 14) of the rash of break-ins. If you see anything suspicious, please call 911 right away. The kids run across a line of accessible roofs and try every building. As a cop told me after attempt #2, the best defenses are window gates and nosy neighbors! -
Subject: St. Mark's break-ins
There were actually 4 break-ins on St. Mark's from the same stretch of roof that cover 5 buildings. They got up to the roof from the corner building and then went down the fire escapes and in windows. It didn't matter if they were unlocked. They got in several that were locked too. They got 5 laptops in total from the St. Mark's cases. Needless to say, we all have new window gates now. I have to echo the request that anyone who actually saw the 4 (14 or 15 year old boys) call the 77th precinct @ 718-735-0661. Detective Hichey is the one in charge of the St. Mark's cases. -
When were the St. Marks break-ins? Because as far as I know Park Place has been attempt-free since the arrest before Christmas, though the kids are now out.
-
The St. Mark's break-ins were all in November and December (so before the arrests) . . . I just only found this post today. The last one on St. Mark's was actually only a couple days before the arrest.
-
Do you know if the kids were formally charged with the other break-ins? The got prints from both of my tenants apartments (2 were in our building), but I have not heard if they actually officially linked them up to all the break-ins.
Howdy, Stranger!
