So sad. Love Saves The Day closing. — Brooklynian

So sad. Love Saves The Day closing.

  • Totally sad, but I have to say, even as a collector, I very rarely ever bought anything there. Nowadays there are tons of specialty shops that are more organized, clean, and niche oriented so I understand how they are falling through the cracks and becoming the latest victim of high rents.

Where will I get my Pyramid jackets now though?! :(
  • Ebay kills another one.
  • Actually, if you watch the video, you'll see that the closing has nothing to do with any of those things. The store was still profitable, despite a big rent increase in 2005. The reason that it's closing is that one of the partners (the surviving partner's wife) died.
  • The landlord tried to triple their rent in 2005 but they managed to negotiate a more reasonable three year lease.

Since it's 2008 now, and I'm certain that their sales can't be what they'd wish, I 'm sure a rent increase is a serious factor, despite the sad passing of the owner's wife.
