Police activity on Underhill/St. Johns and Eastern Pkwy? — Brooklynian

Police activity on Underhill/St. Johns and Eastern Pkwy?

Anyone know what the marked and unmarked cars were all doing parked on the corners of the intersections tonight around 6:00? A gaggle of uniformed and plain clothes cops were there, but the only people talking were some reporters trying to get the scoop from those of us who didn't know. The guys in St. John's Marketplace (Associated) didn't know, either.

  • had a plain clothes cop knock on our interior apartment door asking if we had heard shots ~ 5:30pm. Hadn't. We're on Underhill @ Lincoln.. I had shopped @ Associated at 5:20 and nothing then, but there were ambulances at that intersection at 5:40. Neighbor said a teen girl was shot.
  • We live on the corner of St. J + Underhill, and heard it was a shooting, but not much else. We wanted to get out of the way and let the cops do their job.

We would really like to know the specifics / details of this since it was across the street from our place.
  • good to see so many of us live on the same block..
but yeah from what the lil dudes say somebody got shot in the bldg nobody died ...
  • I was really hoping it wasn't a shooting. I wonder if we'll find out more details. Hopefully the part about no one dying will be true.

    Any idea which building?
  • 2 people shot. No serious injuries. Not prudent to disclose further...Sorry.
  • Is one of the buildings around there public or subsidized housing? Why do all these people live nr there?

What do you mean by "these people"? I'll assume you only mean those on this board, and it's isnt a dig at low income individuals.

St. Johns is lined with apartment building and multi-family dwellings, so it isnt surprising that quite a few on the board live in that area. AFAIK there arent any subsidized building on St. John.
  • I meant the shooters, who I assume are involved with drugs or gangs.

Oh man. Here we go again.
  • yup, it could be ugly. Maybe we could just link all the old ugly crazy lane debates and avoid another one.

    ...or ignore him.

There are Section 8 buildings on the even #rd side of St.Johns between Underhill and Plaza, the other side of the street is mostly co-ops.

 Someone should go through all the old threads and cut them together into a new Race Debate thread.

I'm surprised this is starting in the middle of winter. We usually wait until the spring to dust off the great lines like...

    "You people are the problem."

    "Trust fund & Ipod crackers."

    ...and my personal favorite.

"We where here 1st. You don't like it? move!"
  • I'd kinda like an Ipod Cracker.... Those next to the Saltines?
