MLK Day/Inauguration Event!
On Sunday, January 18th, 2009 a fundraising event is being held at Glasslands in Williamsburg to raise money for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project.
The mission of the Memorial Project is to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by leading a project to create a memorial to honor his national and international contributions to world peace through non-violent social change.

Performers:
Designer Drugs and DJ Mannes and Steve Lurkel of Penned Madness.
Elle Rex. will be doing Photography.

Um, I commend the intentions of this event and where the money is going, but was it really necessary to draw MLK and Obama dancing to a stereo? Also, a free Colt 45?? WTF? Kind of offensive if you ask me. -
The money's going to the MLK memorial fund, as it says on the flier (although I could see how you could miss it since it's kinda small).
Also so what if we had a little fun and had them dancing? I think it's cute. Yea I knew some people would be worried about the Colt 45 thing, but how many events has Colt 45 sponsored w/o anyone saying a word about it, and now that one event has to do with black people a few people care?
Out of curiosity, what race are you? Because I'm black and everyone who I approached about it who was black had no problem with it. The only people I knew who had a problem about it were self-righteous white people.
Appreciate the concern though. I would say there's a lot more important instances of racism to address though.
