It's true that there is only one Tokyo Rosenberg (me). And as with professional sports, the name retires when I do. But you can always make up your own karaoke name. It's as easy as a + b.... here's how we do it:
it won't be the same without Tokyo Rosenberg....
a) The name of your favorite airport bar or hotel: The Saipan "Okura"
plus
b) Your elementary school music teacher: Mrs. "Diaz"
a + b = "Okura Diaz" would be your karaoke name.
You don't have be Japanese to get a karaoke name, but could it hurt? -
Subject: Thanks!
Thanks to all HAMsters who came out last night to sing deep into the wee hours! Congrats to newcomer Ely, who won the new Fantagraphics book Beasts; the esteemed Tokyo Rosenberg, who won the vineyard mustard; Jon and Tim, who won coveted chewing gum; and especially Gavin, aka Johnny Turnpike, aka Johnny Dieppe, aka Mr. "Hallelujah" himself, who won the evening's grand prize, a DELICIOUS CANNED HAM (keep refrigerated!).
Join us again on Feb. 18, 2009 for more free, low-tech bar entertainment of questionable yet tasty quality.
Your host,
H-bomb
