Eldert and Bushwick Ave

Yeah, I live, what, two or three blocks from there? On Decatur near Wilson. It's fine. I'm 27 female and often walk back to my place late-ish. Never encountered a problem. You can't be stupid, but that's anywhere. I honestly really appreciate the sense of family and community that still exists out here. Once the weather warms up, there's nothing like the mix of Latino/Rap/Jazz(practice) pouring out of the apts at night and the gospel music pouring out windows on the weekends. I forced the bf to install a screen door just so we could let in what we call 'ambient noise'. I also appreciate the nice selection of wine at the corner bodega. No kidding. I asked a friend of mine, who works in the 83 precinct in Bushwick, about Bushwick and Eldert. He told me that the area around Broadway and Elbert/Macdonough have had a lot of incidents over the last six months, including a fatal shooting on New Year's morning and a night about a month before that in which there were three gang related stabbings. He said if your really want to live in that area of Bushwick its better to live a little further northeast towards Wilson and Irving.
