which bone?
i fractured my wrist few months ago, and it's still in bad condition. so i went to another hand doc today, and apparently my bone was shortened after the fracture. he said i have to do a surgery to fix it, in which he will have to break the bone again to extend it, by using another bone to fill in the gap (as a bridge).
now, for that extra bone, he said i could either use my pelvis bone which will grow back, or a dead person bone that is sterilized (i forgot the special term for it).
which would you choose?

go for the cadaver bone - the less surgery on you the better. it may be called an allograft - that's what they called it when I got a cadaver ligament to repair my ACL.

oh yeah, cadaver bone, that's what it is.
im leaning towards using cadaver bone too, but at the same time i would like to know if there is any reason not to.
did you have any problem after your surgery vidro? and how long ago was it? -
election day 2004 i think with acl reconstruction the cadaver is the better choice - the other way is they shave a bit off of your patellar tenton so you have a gnarly scar over your knee cap. I've only got about a 1.5 inch scar on the inside of my knee.
so if you like extra scars do the pelvic bone.
as far as one being "better" than the other, I don't think it makes much of a difference. -

I'd go with dead guy bone. Keep your hands off my hips.

I agree.
Get well , KhuntienNang. -
I have no opinion on which is "better" but I can tell you that you'll have significant pain at the harvest site during your recovery if you go the autograft route. On the other hand, it will be all your own bone.
