Dead body in Mt. Prospect Park!

From my window I just saw the coroners office pick up the black bodybag off the ground of the playground and put into van. I have no clue what happened yet, but I feel really creepy. My kids play there all the time.

Here's the link to the story..... -
Article says it happened in Prospect Park- which is it, brownie? You were there....
-
The playground in Mt. Prospect -- the News made a mistake.
-
indeed. Mrs. Whynot reports that the Mt. Prospect Park was closed at 7:30 when she and Dude attempted to enter.
...a dog walker or jogger who arrived earlier discovered the above.
--very sad. -
Not so much sad as pathetic, IMO. Suicide is the most unbelievably selfish thing one can do to everyone around them. (yes, I'm talking to you, Sneaky...)
What- this guy couldn't kill himself at his apartment? He just HAD to off himself in a CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND?!?!?
Nice job, fucker- hope you get the posthumous attention you so craved while you were living.
Sorry- I feel many things- but sorrow ain't one of 'em. -
Was the dog off leash?

When I die and go where ever we all go when we die, I'm going to punch the face of every friend and relative that killed themselves.

while i don't believe we go anywhere other than into the ground or an urn, if you're getting ready to punch people i'd like to add to the list a: my best friend's husband who killed himself in their home, and b: my neighbor's friend who offed himself in the basement of a summer share on the jersey shore. 20 guys upstairs drinking, one guy in the basement hanging himself. left behind a nightmare AND what became a possible crime scene. -
Strange i got a ticket for walking my dogs in that park thrusday night. When the police gave me the ticket they said there has been some robberies in the park. Three white policemen in an unmarked car, driving around in Mt Prospect park. I got a ticket some one lost a life. To bad the cops were not there when that dude went into the park.
Suicide is a very selfish act, bummer that dude had to off himself
ps what time does that park close and is there any signs? -
Poor guy struggled for years with drugs and mental illness. Such a sad story.
I hadn't heard about recent robberies in Mt. Prospect Park but glad the cops are paying attention. Maybe their precinct will also stop issuing sound permits for private parties in the Park. -
Subject: Paul Zolezzi
My sister was a very close friend of Pauls. They cared for each other deeply. Paul was a wonderful, beautiful person. Paul has many friends that care about him and already miss him terribly. There are so many wonderful memories with him. Unfortunately, Paul failed to find a place where he could fit in, in this life, may he find it in his next!
We ask that you try to, rather than feel creepy by this sad, sad experience, just please say a prayer for Paul. When you are out at the park with your children, just remember, every moment matters. Enjoy your children, raise them well and praise them often. Love and kindness goes much further than most realize.
In loving memory of Paul Zolezzi
-
amber, i'm terribly sorry for your loss
-
Yes, Amber, I am sorry for what Paul's friends and family must be going through. And thank you for your insightful perspective. I will take your words to heart.

What is pathetic is this hateful post.
What- this guy couldn't kill himself at his apartment? He just HAD to off himself in a CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND?!?!?

with all respect to this man's family and friends, if you've ever been there to deal with the aftermath of a suicide you might feel differently.
-
I was at the park today with my boyfriend's kids. It was as if nothing had happened...except for the people taking photos with a bouquet of flowers underneath where I presume he hanged himself. Thank God the kids didn't notice as the last thing I wanted to tell them was what happened right around the very spot they were playing. Not that I would have. Creepy nonetheless.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, Amber. It's a real shame when your suicidal friends can't realize their own worth to those that love them. Tomorrow I'm going to the memorial service of a friend who jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge a couple of months ago (his body finally can up onto shore...sigh) Still haven't gotten passed my anger as you can see...
2mexdogs- while there are gates at the entrances, I don't think they're ever closed. A long time ago it was a popular gay spot at night (knew someone who would go there sometimes...). Anyway- the answer is that I've never seen it closed at night.
And pima? Suck it. -

Who's fighting? I was just responding... -
I agree with Amber, Pima, and Brooklyn Potter. This is a very sad story and underscores how suicide affects us all. My heart goes out to this man's family and friends. Watchuwant, your post above explains your anger and I hope that you, too, ultimately find some resolution to the pain of your recent loss.
-
my position is not so far from whatchuwant's (not to throw myself into the fray further).
i personally believe that people should be able to end their lives if they choose. i also wish there were a way to do so without leaving a nightmare behind for those who have to deal with it. since there isn't, i don't believe it's a viable option for most of us.
i come from a family filled with depressive illness, so i know the drill. fact is, even if i wanted to kill myself--and i don't, at all, so not to worry--it would destroy my family, and my best friend who's already lost her husband that way. it would be reprehensible. -
I read about this in the NY Post yesterday. It's sad and terrible but a playground, come on.
-
This poor man was so fucked up that he had to kill himself and you people a complaining about where he did it. Some of you people so fucking out of touch with reality it's scary
-
Sad. For all of you standing up on a mount about suicide --- if you want to be blamers, blame this guy's father: according to the Daily News article, his father killed himself in the 40's. And who knows, maybe Paul's grandfather or grandmother killed himself/herself. That's how suicide works: once the taboo is broken in a family, once suicide becomes an option, it becomes a very viable alternative to the pain of life. Instead of judging this guy, try and understand living with that. He's just as much a victim as the people you're saying he left behind. Ease up for Christ's sake.

Wow, OTB and I are in total agreement!! Is Mars in retrograde or something?
-
OMG! I know that I am technically banned, and that this post will last approximately 2 seconds before being deleted by the poor overworked MODs, but come on! OTB lecturing on compassion? Has someone in _your_ family broken the taboo on killing children, because I'm still living in fear of you following through on your threat to come and kill mine. You know where I'm at, or just ask She-Ra, 'cause she's down with it! Take a look in yer rear view mirror before climbing on yer own mount there cheekyboy.
Mod note: we have better things to do than delete your broken-record posts. Way to make this thread about you. Bad form.
