Running Tracks open to public? — Brooklynian

Running Tracks open to public?

Prospect Park is fantastic, but for speed training traditional tracks are best. I went to the track at Red Hook Recreational Facility tonight (Link for it and other City Park tracks below), but does anyone know of other tracks open to the public that are closer? For instance, can anyone run on that track by BAM? What hours? Thanks in advance for anyone who might know.

Brooklyn Tech (@ Fulton & Vanderbilt?) has a great track - I don't know what the hours are but I know it's definitely open in the mornings during the week. I used to run there often when I lived in Clinton Hill - it's probably about a mile run to get there from the Heights.
  • There will be a track on top of the arena once it's built
  • Subject: Not every thread needs an arena reference, you know.

With a pool in the middle, no doubt. Fortunately, I bought my Elevator Pass in high school, so I'll be able to use both. Go me.

Seriously, I need a track that I can use while I'm still middle aged (35). Thanks to jennybat for the Bkln Tech suggestion.
  • 35 is middle aged now? Jesus. That sucks.
  • Boy dont you guys know that 40 is the new 20's

I wouldnt know anything about that since I dont age - I just have anniversaries - like right now I am still celebrating my 26th anniversary of my 21st birthday :)

I've already decided that I'm going to celebrate 25 indefinitely...
  • Well, 35 is theoretically middle aged if you will be the average of 70 or so. Me, I'm gonna live to be 110, so I've got another 20 years as a yout, I guess.

Now then. TRACKS, people! RUNNING TRACKS!

I second the Brooklyn Tech track. I do some of my speed work here and it's very well maintained. It seems smaller than 400m, and my intervals seem to have confirmed that, but I am not totally sure. I have run there only in the evening and they seem to be open til at least 9pm in the summer.

The entrance is on Clermont, between Vanderbilt and Fulton.

    Happy running :D

  • This is a thread from 2005 ... Is it true that the Brooklyn Tech track is open to the public?
