hoping to move into the hood — Brooklynian

hoping to move into the hood

I originally wanted to settle in Williamsburg when I relocated to NYC last fall, but it just wasn't in my price range. But rents just seem to be falling city-wide and I think i'll be able to swing it this time around...

Can anyone give me a tip on a good block?

Also, what's/where's your favorite restaurant/bar/cafe/deli etc...?

  • Look at the blocks around the Lorimer, Graham and Grand L stations. All fairly quiet blocks close to the trains, buses and shops on Metro and Graham. It's a primarily residential area.

As for awesome eats/drinks, these are some of my favorites:

    Jimmy's Diner (577 Union Ave)
    Levee (212 Berry St)
    Zaboski's (107 N 6th St)
    Vinnie's Pizza (148 Bedford Ave)
    Carmine's Pizza (358 Graham Ave)
    Bliss (191 Bedford Ave)
    Dumont Burger (314 Bedford Ave)
    Miyako (143 Berry St)
    Snacky (187 Grand St)
    Taco Chulo (318 Grand St)

that's just a few in the general williamsburg area. im sure there's much more but i tend to go out more so round Greenpoint.
  • Levee is great! good beer selections, and how can you not love those cheesy puff things they give out :)

the cheeseballs ain't even the start of it. you ever had their Frito Pie? Gimme one of those and a Sportman or six and I'm good for the night.
  • I lived on the Graham Ave stop for 3 years and loved it.

Mostly quiet, beautiful, couple great bars & restaurants, and big bright Bedford Ave is a short subway ride or long walk away.

Carmine's Pizza is one of the best pizza places I've ever been to.

Sure as hell is! The one in Greenpoint (I'm pretty sure the same owners) is just as good as well.
