How do you clean...

...a George Foreman grill if you lost the little sponge that fits the grooves?

Anybody? Beave?

  • I scrub mines with a regular soapy sponge. Then I hold it open and wash it off with water. I don't let the water touch any other part of the grill. Then I grab some paper towel and dry it up completely. There you go a sparkly clean George Foreman grill. :mrgreen:
  • I have the removable plates, but a regular sponge doesn't seem to do it :(
  • You have to clean it while its still hot (warm to the touch with bare hand). If you do that you should be able to get it clean without that sponge as Em said. If not, you are screwed.
  • I use the rough side of a sponge. I throw the whole thin in the sink and just try to keep all te electrical parts as dry as possible, but ive not had a problem yet. Its non-stick so you should be able to clean it pretty easily...
  • I haven't used one of those in a long time but I think we would throw some water on it while still hot to kind of steam clean it and loosen stuck food. I still do with with my frying pan. Works well.
  • Yep, scrub the hell out of it while it's warm. Use soapy water then dry it well. The sponges that they come with are shit. You need elbow grease.
  • Use a stiff brush made with a synthetic material--not wire bristles. A brush like that also works on the old cast iron skillets, etc., that should never be cleaned with soap.

  • Ooh yeah yeah , You gotta wipe it off first while it's still hot.

    I usually cook and then wipe it down real good with paper towel and
    then after it's cooled down I clean it again in the sink.

  • Flexi, I soak the plates and then just scrub them good with the rough side of a scrubby sponge. The sponges made specifically for the grill work best, but, soaking and scrubbing work also.
  • I hate the sponges that came with the grill. Must just be me. They come apart (hhhmm...maybe because I bleach them?). I'd just rather use a regular Cello sponge on it and scrub it to death.
