people who think meat doesn't come from animals -- you know, those folks who are grossed out by anything but a chicken cutlet -- are almost as ridiculous as people who think open hostility is a good debate technique.

Not at all- it's delicious. If you are satisfied with survival, good for you. Most humans, once they secure what is necessary to survive, prefer to enjoy their lives. Sex is for more than just procreation, our eyes and ears can be used as more than just survival tools to take in music and art, and many of us see eating as more than taking in what is essential to survive. And if survival is what's important, consider that these animals would never have existed if we didn't create them to be eaten. They get a chance to survive for a time only because of us, and they get food and protection from the cruel reality of nature. And then they fulfill their destiny by becoming bacon cheeseburgers.

Excellent, excellent point, AB! Actually, what really bothers me about most of the meat-eating population is that there seems to be the feeling that the animal is going to be eaten anyway so it doesn't matter how much fear or suffering he or she endures. That, to me, is an almost un-human like sentiment. Every living creature has the right to a decent existence and a decent death - period - even if the intention of taking the life is to be eaten.

To me, there are just right ways - and wrong ways of - of doing things in this world and when it comes to farm animals - specifically factory farmed animals which is where most meat comes from - it's just wrong!
