Hi all, long time reader first time poster :) I'm looking at an apartment at 255 EP, between Franklin and Classon...

Straight up, I've been living in manhattan for 10 years, saving up for this down payment. Here's my question...for a young(ish) single gal, what am I going to find in easy walking distance?

Also, anyone know anything specific about this building?

    find? in terms of entertainment? sepia is at underhill btwn EP and lincoln. and the center of the universe (aka) soda is on vanderbilt btwn prospect and st. marks. :)

    j/k - SODA is good. There are quite a few restaurants and hangouts on Vanderbilt and Flatbush. Just keep walking west - you're on the cusp of P-heights and reasonably close to the Slope as well.

    Well, the Franklin Ave 4/5 stop is right there on the corner. Youre very close to the museum and the botanic garden. I don't know where you live in Manhattan, but it will probably take another few years for this area (my area too) to meld into the environment you may be used to.

    Vanderbilt is only two stops away on the 2 and 3 trains; if you ride one stop further, you'll have easy access to 5th Avenue, which has a ton of bars and restaurants. To the East, you're a short ride from Nostrand and Utica Avenues, which offer great Caribbean food.

    Washington Avenue is slowly changing, especially the northern part. My guess is that in 5-6 years, you'll see even more change, as there are quite a few condo projects in the works. Easter Parkway is nice, as well. Great for morning walks.

    Try researching these boards, as well as chowhound.com, for more food options. The sushi poll on the Prospect Heights board was especially good.
