go eat a burrito!!

I had nachos there this weekend, they were good ...but, yes, I had the whole place to myself.
...no delivery business either.
P.S. for those you who read the Park Slope thread: My dog was tied up out front as I ate my Nachos. Ah, the joy of not living in fear.
And from my dog's perspective: Ah, the joy of getting leftover chicken nachos, -
I second this--their burritos are quality. Not sure why they don't do better business, since there's really nothing comparable to that around here (Chavella's being a different sort of Mexican food)..
-
Maybe all the new bars opening on Washington will help them if they can stick it out a little longer.
-
You know, we ordered take out from there a couple of weeks ago. We all got burritos and some of us enjoyed them, while others did not. My chicken tasted nasty- that's the only way to describe it. I want to see it succeed, but I'm not willing to eat food that doesn't taste good.
My first time there I had flavorless fish tacos.
They have to step up their game in my mind. Then again, maybe drunk people won't care.
Anyone been to Raw Star yet? -
I have eaten here a couple of times, but I find the food to be very bland. Where's the spice? Maybe if they added a little flavor to things they would do better.
-
I've eaten here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I agree that I had doubts about the volume of their business.
I'll keep this place in mind the next time that we're looking to do something in the neighborhood. -
I had a okay burrito from this place served by a surly waiter...won't go back.

oh get over yourself, this is new york, in a burrito bar on washington ave for god's sake, you want great service move to japan or charleston.
anyhow, the wait service is (or was?) just a weekend thing. i've found the guy at the counter (owner/manager?) very friendly and accomodating. -
only $1 more expensive than the cheapest burrito you can get, and these are presumably of good quality, etc. i had one so far, and it was very good. it was the pork one w/ refried beans, and you have a choice of beans cooked in lard or cooked vegan. i wonder if this helps them or not. just using lard in a sentence is probably a turn-off.
-

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!!! -
spelled it wrong. i meant 'turn-on'.
-
No no , TURN OFF is correct.
Lard is nasty and should be outlawed!
Anything Carni likes should be outlawed. Especially his precious bAcOn. -
Now I'm in the mood for a bacon and lard sandwich between 2 pieces of Spongebob Squarepants!
-
YOU LEAVE SPONGEBOB ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn , slutty llama , it prolly has brought you crabs home ,huh?
And that's why you're so jealous of Spongebob cuz he's clean and lives
in a freakin' pineapple under the sea! UNDER!! -
damn you Em! now I have that silly

Funny. Her post reminded me more of Chris Cocker.

this thread got me off the couch and we finally went for dinner. it was great! the burrito was huge and filling and i loved the squash they used as the vegetable filling. it was also a great price -- for $20 we got two huge burritos, a starter of chips and salsa, and 2 sodas.
thanks for the reminder to go. we will def. be back. -

awe, thanks Em.
Carnie, it was good knowing you. -
Many, many things are wrong with us. But back to the burrito place
We are wishing the burrito place the best. ...it should start by:
1. Advertising in the neighborhood.
2. Using additional spices.
3. Getting a beer lic.
4. Having an atmosphere of some kind. The little skulls glued to the wall
don't cut it. Spongebob and Cocker might bring in two customers I know.
5. The thai place next door is always busy, it can't blame the location.
6. Getting a TV that shows only soccer, so people can gourge and drink.
7. Play some Mexican music or something
there, 7 things wrong with it.
...now, back to ketchup and bacon. Em, I just saw you waiting by the entrance to the Park. ...hiding in a bush, waiting for Carnivore.
Good plan. -
I ate there once shortly after it opened. I got a chicken burrito and it reminded me of the cafeteria in college which I think was run by Marriott. Not something that inspired me to go back again, I'm actually surprised they've lasted this long.

Subject: dead burritos
i heard this place was opened by the folks that owned beso down in the slope.. is that a misconception? either way.. hope it sticks around long enough for me to check out. and hello, i'm new! -
The veggie burritos are really good! Much better than burrito bar. I have to remember to go to this place.
-
Question here: which do you think is better? This Mexican or Chavella's (where I haven't yet been)?
-
i think they do really different things.
if you really insist on comparing them, i think it will be awfully hard to beat chavella's, though. (i haven't been to this place, but i can't think of anywhere short of the ballfields that i do think would beat chavella's, especially at its price-point.)
in conclusion, you should really try chavella's. -
Chavells's HANDS DOWN. Their chicken mole....I dream about it. :bounce:

Hmm, and I do loves me the a taco at the ballfields! Okay, it's on the Priority Restaurant List. -
Chavella's wins 95% of the time.
...I use the place on Washington only for Nachos.
Chavella's doesn't provide gobs of cheese. Sometimes I need gobs of cheese. -
seems to be getting slightly more business, but still must be barely hanging on. note how fragile local spots are - garden cafe and barette just the latest to not make it. go eat a burrito.
Howdy, Stranger!
