I saw the burn mark and melted plastic on the side walk today. I wonder if it was done as a warning to the stroller brigade?

  • i saw that this morning too! i wonder if some assholes set it on fire on purpose, or if a smoking asshole *oopsies* flicked a cig in there causing it to catch on fire.

looked pretty eerie first thing in the morning though! specially with the melted plastic on the sidewalk and the stroller corpse pushed off to the side.
  • They got to get up and walk at some point...
  • When I was walking home around 9:30 last night, I saw a few people on the street talking to some cops. I was curious but couldn't tell what they were talking about. I saw the stroller this morning and was sort of hoping there would be a post here explaining... I wonder how they'll ever get the plastic off the sidewalk.
  • Could this possibly be related to the other fires that have been happening in the past few days?
  • -what other fires? random ones like baby carriages?

-and that persons sidewalk looks effed up. half of that stroller burnt in to the sidewalk. no rain will wash those stains away.

  • Where is said stroller? Location? Photo?
  • burning strollers then leaving the molden plastic as permanent reminder of your act of rebellion, the 15 y/o in me kinda likes it.

...it's not as good as scrawling "die yuppie scum", but close.
  • looked like there may have been a garbage can fire on underhill near sterling too....
  • i'm so happy i joined this blog. you guys have great things to talk about, and there are a few comedians in the house.

Because only yuppie scum need strollers, for their children who are ruining Prospect Heights??

It seems you never matured past 15 years old. You believe burning a stroller to be an act of rebellion?

For you, an act of rebellion would be to act as an adult.
  • Just some clarification: was it a full-size model or a toy that got burnt? Because right before this, I saw a broken toy stroller, presumably from the playground, discarded in the bin on the corner.

Having burnt a large plastic thing outdoors to leave permanent stains in my youth (as part of a music act) I can tell you it's a wicked fun thing to do.

Yes, it is all about the fire. The melting, and the blob of plastic that remains forever. Its all very pure and primitive. ...ah, to be 15. good times.

Pima, I think the last yuppie scum I saw was in the '80s, wearing a Members Only jacket and driving a 325i. ...but according to this link

it seems there are modern ones who trash the environment, watch HGTV and drive Hummers.

Damn, where are they? I wonder if Plan B can help me out.

Wait, omg, who is that in the mirror!

...this has all been traumatic. I need a pint of Maple ice cream from Blue Marble....
  • Went to Washington Commons (LOVELY bar, btw) last night and a group of Firefighters came in. They were friendly and I asked them about the recent little fires---they said they are pretty certain it's a kid going aroud setting them, and they have been quite frequent.
  • A description of the kid, from a neighbor who witnessed a fire being set in a construction dumpster on Sterling/Butler....

Young white kid, abt 16 years old. Grungy/punkish look. Skinny w. blond dreadlocks. Be on the lookout.

Maybe it's a warning to get your kids to stop smoking in their strollers.
