Need help hooking up my portable DVD player
Can someone help me hook up my DVD player? I get video but not audio. I've tried every plug and have searched online for help and cannot figure out what the issue is.
I'm in C.G. and am willing to pay a small fee for someone who can get my DVD player working properly. (It's probably something super-easy and I'll feel like a dork when you fix it but whatever.)
Thanks!

I suggest adding more details - like the model of DVD player and what you are hooking it up to. Also, pictures of your cable and the back ports of what you are trying to connect. Somebody might be able to explain it to you online (like Voodoo did for me with my HDMI hookup for big ass TV)

Those are good suggestions but I'd rather pay someone 20 bucks than take photos, upload them to Brooklynian, and keep posting back-and-forth with folks about the issue. Thanks, anyway.

ha..
my other suggestion is to go find an 8 year old. they can do it without instructions. -
HA! Funny and, unfortunately, accurate....

you likely need additional cables. you need some that run from the RCA jacks of the dvd to the RCA jacks of your TV.

Okay, here goes...I've got the plug that has the square head on one end (plugged into my portable DVD player) and at the other end of the cord are red, yellow and white plugs.
I've got the white plug plugged into the TV in a socket that seems to be the only one where I get video on the TV (I've tried all the sockets). However, I cannot find the combo for the red and yellow plugs that will get me sound.

Danielle - have you checked the front and back of the tv? My son has an older model tv and he has one that has a white outlet on the front of the tv and then he just has a yellow outlet in the back. He is able to hook things up but it does not come out in stereo.

Thanks, Stacey. My DVD player previously had been hooked up fine through the back of the TV and the cable box (even though I have sockets in the front of the TV, as well). However, I had to bring the DVD player in for repairs and didn't notate where each plug had been plugged in, originally. (Doh.)
