UP ON THE ROOF...Again

Two guys on the roofs (rooves???) Park Place between Van and Underhill. Cops were called an hour and a half ago...no response...if you have fire escapes be sure windows are secure.

  • reporting 2 guys on a roof wont get a quick response. that is a low priority call put in as suspicious person
  • couldn't it just be some people with roof access?

There was a rash of break-ins a few weeks back, all with the same MO - gain roof access, go down the fire escape and enter through unsecured windows. Also, that block is mostly brownstones - with so few units in the building, you know whether or not an individual belongs in the building/on the roof.
  • ARTMAN: were these people on your roof, or people whom you spotted on someone else's roof? Wonder if a "Hi! Howya doing?" directed at the potential trespassers might have scared them away.

Thanks for looking out for our hood!
  • It's going to be a long summer if this is starting already.

I love the part about how the cops didn't bother to respond.

If I see someone on a roof and they don't appear to be hanging out, doing repairs, or seem shady my solution will involve a paintball gun.
  • I you state that they have burgarly tools (crow bar, screw driver, hammer) you may get a quicker response.

...you should only say this if you see such items, of course.

Identifying yourself as the super may help as well (if you are a super, of course)

Can you provide any details that support that statement? It's an often uttered and often inaccurate statement. The police don't just "not show up" to 911 calls.
  • yes two neighbors were there when the call was made. the perps climbed from house to house once discovered and ran like blazes-- not the action of do gooders, at least not in my experience (and i am old and infirm...)
  • You didn't actually provide any details other to say that your neighbor was there.
