What did everyone do today? Memorial Day (or weekend)
I just read the post about the pillow kitten family and the raccoon in the window (we had a racoon scratch a hole through the plastic lid of the trash can). Got to thinkin' well, here I am with a beginning farmer's tan, ready for bed and it is 8PM. Don't have a job to go to tomorrow but am speaking at a meeting (guess) and then going to a seminar at Mr. Sinai....
As a single person moving across the agespance to a bit over her mid-50s, I didn't have a clue as to who I could call to do something.
Headed over to the Green-Wood Cemetery just in time to hear Borough Pres Marty give a plug about the plot he owns (guess what, he rents).
Believe it or not after all of these years I never visited the cemetery. Will go back as it is almost 500 acres. The thing about Brooklyn is that we have a lot of sites and interesting green places but no matter how hard we try it is difficult to get rid of the seedy aspect...such as the plastic flowers around the newest mausoleum.
I digress. In any event, I went by myself, walked and bused along Seventh Avenue and home on Fourth and Fifth. Again, since I haven't been working I am getting to know and love???? Brooklyn more. Am from PA originally but have lived here since 1979 (cept for six years in Manhattan). So, are there other folks over fifty (perhaps 45) who don't really want to hook up with anyone but enjoy going to local events (other than bars or eating out)? :shock

I go to the Botanic Garden every Saturday morning (cause that's when it's free), to which my friends all reply with some variation of "Oh, is there a new blade of grass?". They don't get it and I'm not about to waste the time explaining it to them.

Botanic Garden Saturday morning. Sunday to Fairway and a walk along the waterfront. Green-Wood Cemetery today for the annual memorial day concert. Yep got the Marty Markowitz plug and big gaff. That was both mine and my wife's first time there too. I am also on the North side of 50 and not working right now

Yes, I want to see the "Wicked Plants" exhibit opening next week -
We spent a lot of the weekend in the Park. Picnics, walking, lounging, smelling the green-ness of everything. It was really lovely.

I went Gallery hopping on the Lower East Side on Saturday and then got drunk at Arlene's Grocery and ended up spending $24 for a cab ride home.
Then I hit to BBQ's on Sunday. Weird thing was, at both BBQs there was NO MUSIC! WTF? I mean really, it's not a party if there is no music, IMO.
Monday I totally reorganized my apartment throwing out tons of shit and giving lots of it to my porter who then will give it to the needy.
Then I watched "Role Models".
A very good weekend. -
Not much. Picnic on Saturday, got married on Sunday, Bam street fair on Monday. No complaints.

Skipped out of Brooklyn and spent a restful weekend in the Catskills surrounded by trees, exotic bugs, and chipmunks...nirvana!
