Much better name than Fish and Sip!
Walked by today - looks nice. -
Where did i see "Fish and Sip"....??? i remember seeing it, and thinking what a weird name, but where is it again?
Washington sure does seem to be up and coming... and now a new coffee shop. wahoo -
i wonder if it will be quality coffee like stumptown, intelligentsia or clover?
i doubt it, or else it would have been written up online already.
on an aside, has anyone noticed the fro-yo shop on vandy . i think it's b/w st. marks and park place...or that juice place...doesn't seem like they have a lot of business. -

the froyo place is really good -- but so expensive. we go for special occasions - if it was cheap, we'd be there every day. they have a location near astor place but on broadway

Hi! This is Gemma and Lucien owners of Sit & Wonder (sister of Bittersweet on dekalb ave).
We just want to introduce ourselves and tell you a few details. We are HOPING to be open by this weekend but it might be a bit ambitious so forgive us if were a few days late.
YES! We will be serving Stumptown coffee (Woohoo were happy too!) and a "Choice" of pastries... Free wi-fi and a cool place to hang out.
We look forward to meeting you all real soon. -
I just wanted to say Hello to everyone, my name is Erik and I am going to be the manager of Sit & Wonder. I am looking forward to serving some great Stumptown coffee to the neighborhood. We will be opening soon and I hope to see you there.
-
welcome ...and be prepared for brutal honesty the moment you open. ...most of us are nice.
-
Any updates on the upcoming opening?
-
I stopped by on Saturday to take a peek. Said it will open probably next weekend. I was hoping for a back yard, but no. Still looking forward to it, though.

A "Choice" of pastries meaning pastries from "Choice" cafe' in Clinton Hill?

too bad the folks at time out don't seem to have realized that the guy who started stumptown moved to brooklyn last year and now has a roasting plant in red hook. these beans are probably roasted right here in the BK...not in portland... -
Never had Stumptown coffee. Better than Gorilla? Whats the big deal?
-
i think stumptown is about one of the best coffees out there.
better than gorilla by a lot, if you ask me.
here's an interesting article on stumptown...

Cool - can't wait to try it at this place.
Anyone try Hena coffee? I used to drink it at Decon Blue on Prospect and Grand. I really enjoyed it. -
stumptown is indeed in brooklyn ... it's the coffee used in the new coffee beer by brooklyn brewery too.
-
Sign on the window says they're opening tomorrow (Saturday)!
-
yes, i stopped by today and the woman inside said definitely tomorrow (saturday). smelled good in there!
-
they're open! $1.75 for a large drip coffee. two kinds available today... sumatra and guatemalan. open 7 days a week, 7a - 8p, according to the punch card... buy 10 get one 12oz espresso free. they also had pastries and such.
-
i think the $1 is for refills. cups are kind of small but the coffee is good.
one thing though, if you get stumptown coffee at stumptown in portland the coffee is WAY stronger. sit & wonder - make your coffee stronger! really strong stumptown coffee is SO good. -
loved it. Stumptown is good stuff. nice little coffee shop. definitely a welcome edition to the neighborhood.
-
the date toffee cake is to die for. pics, etc., to come soon.
-
love it. love all the new stuff on washington.

Subject: weak
coffee was weak (on sat am)
tried both --
as for the feel of the place it was like
joyce bakeshop meets blue marble -- gak.
i do like that it faces east, though --
nice light in the AM (until it gets too hot) -
I went on Saturday and liked my coffee and the space. I actually first attempted Joyce, but the line and crowd was out of control, not worth it. I've never been to blue marble, but I think there's room for another coffee shop in the hood and so what if the aesthetics are similar.
-
totally disagree with rednaxela's description of the "feel" of the place. the dimensions are similar to joyce, and layout of the bar area, with seating in the windows, might be similar but pretty much a product of brooklyn architecture. beyond that, the aesthetic is no way similar to either blue marble or joyce - those places are much brighter and more colorful, whereas s&w is all about the dark woods, leather, low lights, etc. different, and each style pretty appropriate to what they're selling...
