To our TNR group and Shelter groups
I know NYBT is part of this group but I just wanted to inform you guys that there as I was driving up Dean Street I was stopped at the light on the corner of Vanderbilt and I saw out of hte corner for my eye a small little black and white kitten (looked like a 7-9 months old) in that vacant lot on the corner. I pulled over and since I had just finished picking up some cat food for my cats I put a can out. The little guy/gal did not come over to me or the food. I pushed it further into the yard and got in my car. Not only did this little one come to the can but 3 others came out also. 3 of them were black and white and the fourth one was more black than white. Unfortunately I had to get home quickly so I couldn't spend more time with them.
Now my big fear is that I saw some orange flags on the ground in that lot. I dont know if it means that there is poisoning being put down or if it is slated for demo. Unfortunately I have two cats in my home now and cannot take them in. I would be more than willing to help defer the cost of caring for them if someone else could take them in.

I'm just an occasional grunt for the TNR ops, but I'll pass this along! Thanks!

Thanks Stacey! We'll check it out.
Fyi, we can be contacted at [email protected], or see our website at slopestreetcats.com. -
Two of the larger kittens were trapped and spayed/neutered over the weekend. The mom was trapped but we had to release her because we could tell that she recently had a litter of kittens. We don't want to leave any starving kittens out there. We will get the mom and her kittens once she starts bringing them around. In the meantime there are two other cats in the parking lot area that we are going to trap.
Thanks for keeping us informed about areas in our community that need a little tnr help. We are always looking for more volunteers so please contact us if you are interested in getting involved.

That is wonderful news!!!! I am so happy that you were able to help them. What you do is an extremely valuable service to the strays and I hope you keep up the good work.
Thanks again Laura and her partner (who were so patiently trapping the cats) for responding so quickly. I feel a lot better knowing they have been seen by a vet. -
I'm so glad to hear of this sort of thing! My beloved cat Oscar was a TNR baby that was too sick to be re-released, but also young enough to be adopted and socialized. 5 years and 12 pounds later (14 pounds of tomcat!), I can't imagine life without him.

Thank you for caring.

good news about catching two of the kittens.
last winter Slope Street Cats helped me trap 2 calico kittens (9 months old) at that same location. it took awhile for them to un-feral themselves, but they're now totally spoiled house cats. at the time, we also tried to capture a beautiful black male cat and a little black and white (probably female) cat but they knew what we were up to so they disappeared. it sounds like they might be the parents of these new kittens.
i think they all live in that empty building next to the lot on Dean Street. i've seen them coming and going from there (at least last year).
Howdy, Stranger!
