Cablevision is actually undercharging me... — Brooklynian

Cablevision is actually undercharging me...

I'm moving this month, and I'm in the process of closing all my accounts. I realized that Cablevision has NEVER charged me for my internet, only my cable. Now, I have to return all my equipment and I'm not sure what to do. Do I return only the cable box and act as if I never had internet? Or do I return both cable box and modem and expect to pay all the back charges? If Cablevision was a good, honest company I'd have no problem paying. But, since they're so awful, I'd like to sort of get them back for all the people that they actually overcharge. Plus, to be honest I just don't feel like paying all that money at once.

What would you do?

  • When I cancelled, I returned my cable box, and they lost it, and tried to charge me a ridiculous amount. So I had to 1) notice the error, 2) waste time complaining and getting them to reverse it. Like many operations in this town, they take your money first, and leave it to you to figure out you've been done. Treat them just like they'd treat you: return the cable box and act like you never had internet. And keep the receipt on the box.
  • Are they charging you for the modem on the bill? Take back the stuff they are charging you for, the box, the remote

ask for a receipt when you take it back
  • god, i remember when DSL first came out .... who was my isp... flashdsl or something

Anyway, it took 4 months to get it installed and then they never billed me for an entire year! lol

...then they went out of business because they never billed A LOT of people. It was sweet though.

But yeah, just return what they are charging you for and play dumb for the rest.

Say you dont even understand how "the intrawebs" works lol
