Where to store a cat?
A friend of mine is going away for ten days. She doesn't want to leave the cat alone in her apartment as it is a terror and will possibly destroy the place. I can't take it to my place and watch it (which I did last time). So where is a good place to "store" this cat for the ten days? She lives in Park Slope. Anyone with previous experience with cat storage places will be much appreciated as she is a bit apprehensive about doing this.
Or if there is anyone who wants to pet sit (at their apartment) for ten days, PM me.
Thanks.

Storage? I hope she MEANS board. It's a pet not a couch!!!!!!
I would ask her vet if he can board - there is a pretty nice place down in Carroll Gardens (Woofs 'n Whiskers). Heard that Paws in Paradise does sitting. -
She should just eat it now. It'll be rotten after 10 days.

Try caseopele's mom's store. I have met her mom and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in terms of loving animals. The cat will be in good hands.
Here's the info.

Thanks, darla!
MeredithB, my mom will take care of your friend's kitty like she would her own. -
Off topic, but is she doing dog boarding, too?

Thanks! She is looking into it. I believe she is worried he will be traumatized. But I told her, he's a cat, he has a pea brain, his memory is not long and things are forgotten quickly (especially over a bowl of 9 Lives). -
MeredithB - Nuh-uh. Cats sulk. AND they will let you know in no uncertain terms how unhappy they are with the situation. Way back, had a cat who was very unhappy with the fact that we went on vacation and left him in the care of a neighbor (who came in to feed him). She had no issues with him during the whole time. We got back after ten days - that evening, right in the middle of the bedspread, there was fresh evidence of his displeasure. And he repeated the performance for two more days. No amount of nip or Pounce (kitty heroin) would convince him otherwise.
-
yeah but then after those two days, he forgot (most likely). If you has just up and left a person, there'd be more shit and a history lesson every now and then.

I agree with Domino. Cats know and some take it more personally than others. Mine falls under the sensitive boat.
I was out two nights in a row earlier this week - Monday (yoga) and Tuesday (dinner). My cat gave me the cold shoulder when I got home Tuesday night. She also added the stink eye to the mix and decided it would be fun to wake me up at 3:30am to play. She wasn't taking no for an answer. -

Of course! Mom was telling me that they have a young Boerboel boarding with them, she's enormous and wants to play with everyone. I want one! -
I'm going to Ireland Nov. 19-29 and would MUCH rather have your mom watch Oscar then some other no-name kennel. She'd kiss him and let him sit on her lap!

I would suggest having someone cat sit at the owner's house. I am currently cat/housesitting the biggest diva I have ever met. I went away for a few days and while I was gone the cat threw up on my shoes. Then when I got there he demanded attention but promptly bit my nose, shat in the middle of the floor and then woke me up in the middle of the night demanding attention only to bite my toes-- he has an extreme toe festish (or foot fetish) and needs to rub his face, lick, bite my feet ALL NIGHT LONG. Especially when I am sleeping. Grrr. But I know he woul dbe happiest if I was there all the time. Unfortunately I have to work and have Brooklyn responsibilities that keep me away here and there. But I pay for it.

Beave - I volunteer for Oscar duties!!! I will be in the BF's home for Thanksgiving out in Westhampton and Rocks would love another boxer boy to pal with. If all else falls thru I would love another boxer in the house. How much does he chew???? Wood (as in dining room tables or other fiber - as in dining room rug?)
-
I boarded my cat at Hope Vet on Atlantic. The staff was fantastic!
-
Oscar honestly chews no wood. However, he is retarded and demands DEMANDS attention at all times. Give him a kong (stuffed) or a cuz and he is a happy boy. Provided you look at him while he's playing.
-
I know how my cat feels from his status on Facebook.
-
My cat does not want to be my friend on Facebook.
-
I made Oscar be my friend on Facebook.
-
Rocks pee'd on my wall on Facebook
-
Oscar could not stop me. He has no thumbs.

You know my mother all too well!

Don't underestimate the brain power of a cat. They forgive, but they don't forget.

He knows messing with your feet will annoy you, so he turns it into something enjoyable for him. Sounds like he isn't taking to you and he's progressing well with your training.
Cat Psychology is nothing to be taken lightly. I'd check my food and lock the doors at night. -
spray your toes with cayenne pepper. that'll teach him!
-
Huh.
Oliver loves me. I have sat him every year for a long time. He's just a DIVA. -
Some cats just have a foot fetish, Mumps and Grumps love feet too.
Howdy, Stranger!
