  • Now he's a Victim.

Surely we should give him the chance to prove that he is a Victim before we question his story.
  • i kind of hope this person really does work at the 77th.
  • 2 human beings lost their lives and you talking about what? The topic said copters are back. Opinions were formulated.

Petty is an understatement on the comments being made. Tell me a good time and day you would like to meet at the precinct. All questions can be answered I assure you.
  • mr. met wrote: i kind of hope this person really does work at the 77th.
Me too. I'd hate to think that people can claim something and then state that they are being attacked when asked to verify their claims.

    That would be pathetic

P.S. People die in the city everyday from guns and juvenille nonsense. ...you claiming you work there is something I find interesting.
    ..and helicopters. I like helicopters.
  • mr. met wrote: i kind of hope this person really does work at the 77th.
Not impossible. But if so, it's kind of baffling why they wouldn't just PM ParadeRest the info he'd need to validate the story.
  • ...its not like Paraderest isn't available.

You made claims that contradict what people at the scene saw, and then tried to back up your claim by saying you worked at the precinct, and then by implying you were an officer. Nobody is going to go to the precinct to try to verify your story. There's an easy way you can do that yourself that you've been willfully ignoring.

Name a Time and Place for the whole community meet you, Mike Jones and the block representatives. I and I'm sure many people here would love to talk about what happened and what can be done to make life here better for all. Or we can sit here all day a pay "Victim".
  • Nobody here was at the scene that's what I'm telling you. The question a few of you are asking is do I work at the precinct which I stated. So, if you don't want the story verified but my employment, then I invite you to my place of work.
  • Well, maybe there is a reason that howdareu doesn't want to talk to ParadeRest.

ParadeRest wrote: Does everybody realize that a detective does not outrank a police officer? A detective and a P.O. are the same rank, just different pay. The two detectives that work in 77 community affairs only exist to placate the residents of the community. They are empty suits that get paid too much money. There are real detectives working in the squad that are solving real crimes and making real arrest that are only 2nd or 3rd grade detectives while the community affairs "detectives" are 1st grade! That is disgusting.

P.S. Plainclothes does not equal a detective. There are lots of cops that work in plainclothes units that are not detectives. The "jump out boys" are cops and their supervisors not detectives. Anti-crime, Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit, Burglary Apprehension Team and Grand Larceny Auto units are all plainclothes but not detectives.
  • So NO formal meeting is planned by the block representatives? No wonder it was anarchy on the block saturday night. Pathetic.
  • Yes there is a formal meeting planned but we want to make sure your there because you didn't come to the precinct meeting at the church in may. So we were planning Aug 1st at the church on the corner of Sterling and Underhill I hope most can make it. :D

At about the same time that Carnie was writing, I thought "howdareu might not want to PM paraderest b/c he doesn't want Paraderest to know who he/she is."

This however, is also a solveable problem: one could PM paraderest something that only other members of the 77th knew, (for example: "Ofc Jones rides a Honda Motorcycle to work and has bad breath" OR "the coffee machine has been broken since Tuesday"). ...you get the idea.

By doing so he could maintain his privacy, and bring credibility back to his /her name.
  • Hope to see you at the meeting as well : )

I have flexible hours. When is your next shift?
  • I love how howdareu is downplaying the situation. How many people on this board think the block party was a joyous day for all? I don't feel sorry for anyone who had anything to do with that block party. I said this before and I'll say it again: Alcohol+Marijuana+high levels of testosterone+ pulsating rap music+ no police or security presence+ hot weather+ simmering gang rivalries+ guns = A RECIPE FOR DISASTER! The organizers of this event are probably still washing the blood from their hamburger stained hands....
  • How legitimate was this "Child Safety Day"? Was money raised for child safety? Did they have child safety experts speak? What exactly made this a child safety day? Or was it just an excuse to throw a block party?

    Honestly wondering.
  • Now rbg for all people you know what you are saying is not true. Downplaying is not where I am going. Solution for this community is unity and you won't get that on this board. Read what I wrote and then read the replies after.

See where it went from statements that I made to jokes from others. Questions that had nothing to do with the topic. Enjoy your day. I 'm going to continue to work.
  • Subject: meeting date and time needs to be publicized

If a meeting is indeed held on August 1st, I think it's imperative that flyers with info about the meeting are posted on the front and lobby door of every building on St Johns Place. There are dozens of people who are incredibly upset about the events that transpired on Saturday night who don't visit this board. I'm sure many of them would love to attend a community meeting and have their voices heard. And for what it's worth, I think more people will be able to go to a meeting on a weeknight than on a Saturday.

Carnie, speak for yourself. I am bored with lots of time.

Maybe they'll let me play with thier toys.

  • anyone else perplexed by how poor of a writer one certain person is on here?
  • The "description" part actually sounds a lot like some of howdareu's early CAPS LOCK posts!
  • so, those helicopters ...They have really cool search lights
  • howdareu wrote: See where it went from statements that I made to jokes from others. Questions that had nothing to do with the topic. Enjoy your day. I 'm going to continue to work.
    This is crap.

Whenever you give a different version of events than everyone else and use your alleged professional (or maybe volunteer?) position to lend authority to your version people will naturally ask you for verification.

If you don't want to defend your position at the 77th precinct, don't use it to lend credence to your claims; just back up your claims with evidence instead of asserting authority.
  • I've been trying to reach Detective Maclain, the community relations officer at the 77th, to confirm the meeting on August 1st - with no luck. Has anyone else been able to confirm it? If it is happening, I agree with d-miriam that it is imperative that everyone on the block be notified. I know that many of my neighbors (I am a resident of St. Johns) are eager to have their voices heard.
  • Architecture Biscuit, your views have wide support. ...but now that howdareu is gone we can move on.

    May I suggest:
    Helicopters (ever ridden in one?)
Crime in the summer, every summer, leading to the return of helicopters.
how it would suck to be a cop in NYC and have to call in a ...wait for it... helicopter.
  • Advancing to this evening,
Q: "What did you do at work today?"
A: "Not much work, but I did get to watch and play some basketball.
He might have just been having a bad day, but the other guy seemed out of his league"

I want to throw up after reading this.

Mike Jones is not responsible for what happened at his party?

    Hosted By:
MIKE JONES the REAL the ORIGINAL the TRUTH

BYOBB? It's a kids event! It was irresponsible to have people bring alcohol to the block! What the hell were you thinking?! You're the host of this event. You have your name on the add.

    Did you approve the message?

Of course you did! You wrote it!

Mike Jones you should step down as the block president. You made a bad decision in running an event of this size. If the city was the host people would be screaming for the mayors head.

Step aside and let an adult take the reigns.
