  • At least it stays in the family!!
  • We were there on Friday for lunch. Busy as always. The nephew seems a nice guy, very friendly chatting to all the regulars explaining the story (for probably the millionth time). Not sure we got our cookie and orange slice though, tut tut :-)
  • Is the food/experience worth the wait?

for sure. although on saturday mornings i enjoy the wait - snacks, free coffee, and people hanging out. it's kinda nice.

last time i went the nephew was there and super friendly. we did get cookies and oranges.
  • I walked by here on Saturday morning (around 9:30) and there was no wait whatsoever. It was so unusual I almost went in for a second breakfast!
  • Such a lovely man. He will be missed.
  • He definitly made that place what it is. Its still great now but not like when he's there.
  • Aw man! I wish I'd known - I would've gone in a week or 2 ago to say goodbye! :(
  • ahem . . . there's already a thread on this here.

    mods?

end of an era, yes, but as previously reported, according to jimmy, gus will be not be retiring completely but will be working parttime. there will be plenty of opportunities to wish him well.
  • Mmmm we had some Tom's delivered this morning and I think it might have been a couple dollars more, but still amazing & delicious.

Except it's about the "being open on Sundays" thing, not the retirement thing.
  • Tom's delivers?

I finally had the chance to go here, after living here more than 3 years--I simply don't have the patience for the Saturday crowd, but I happened to take a weekday off. Very, very pleasant, although I will say the sweet potato pancakes didn't taste as strongly as I would've hoped.

ah. must have misread the subject line.

Yep, but I don't think they have paper menus, you just have to know. Or maybe they do and just don't hand them out.
