Where to go for drinks in CG area tonight? — Brooklynian

Where to go for drinks in CG area tonight?

Where should my friend and I go for drinks tonight in CG? We are getting in a rut. Places we like but DON'T want to go to tonight include:

Alma/B61
The Jakewalk
Clover Club
Lobo
Pacifico
Sunny's
Botanica
Robin des Bois
Prime Meats
Moonshine

On the "maybe" list:

Bar Great Harry
SugarLounge (haven't been there in, like, 5 years)
Brooklyn Ice House (never been)
Brooklyn Inn

Outdoor space would be a bonus but not a requirement. We're not looking to eat, necessarily, so a bar where we can sit/hang is a must (not a "service bar"). Timely responses appreciated. Thanks!

  • Where did you end up going? I would have recommended Brooklyn Social if I'd seen this in time....
  • Hey Voodoo, the last time I went to Brooklyn Social was when you could still smoke in bars (which shows you how long ago it was) and I just have bad memories of not being able to breathe and a slew of 19-year-olds with fake IDs. I'm assuming the smoke is gone. How about the 19-year-olds? Do they have outdoor space in the back? People seem to love that place so I may need to try it, again.

We ended up going to Bar Great Harry's first - I really try to like that bar but it seems so...personality-less. Does anyone like this place and/or do I just catch it on off nights?

Then we wandered down the street and, believe it or not, we went into Ceol, despite my friend's protests. The bartenders (mostly from Ireland) were funny as hell but when they told us there would be karaoke, we almost left (I HATE karaoke). I'm so glad we didn't - we had a blast. No joke. The singers were actually uniformly pretty good (I've never seen that before) and the whole crowd got into it, especially with some of the "group singalongs" (Sweet Caroline) and dancing (Thriller). The whole night was a hoot in the best "we're all in on the joke" sense. My friend wants to get back next Saturday - ha!
