New Hot Dog restaurant with their own cutomized Sixpoint brew.

Right next door to Pinchik on Bergen. Not open yet but looks like it could be soon.

I know it's going to be pricey but it sure looks like it's going to be good, and there is nothing like a really good hot dog now and then!

  • as long as it's with KETCHUP!
  • Mustard! ohhh and sauerkraut!
  • I posted this earlier in the week - it talks about pretentious quotes from Edible Brooklyn, including one from the URL you posted:

Read the rest of the article at the link, below, and a funny comment from the Editor of Edible Brooklyn in the comments section:

"...Four times a year, we get a chance to laugh at the place where the pomposity of food writing and the pretentiousness of living in Brooklyn collide — Edible Brooklyn, a magazine dedicated to “celebrating the borough’s food culture, season by season.” I’ve picked out the ten most amazing/ridiculous quotes from the current issue of Edible Brooklyn and reproduced them below. Yes, people actually said/wrote all of these things, and they were all completely serious."

"Behold this creature that walks like a man. It wants ketchup on its hot dog."
  • not that it matters, but bark is on the park slope side of flatbush.

it's on bergen between 5th and flatbush, to be exact.

they look to be doing a really nice job on the interior and exterior.
  • + 1 for the Edible Brooklyn editor.

    And danielle123, you're a dude?

Haha! …so glad I flipped thru Edible Brooklyn while I was at your place last weekend. I was seriously wondering, “Why the hell would he underline that this woman is addicted to Kombucha?” <3
p.s. I love the Edible mags. The pictures are great. Not all the articles are doofy.
  • When is Bark supposed to open?
  • Site just says Coming Soon

    but, yum wow:
Edible wrote: ...they’re griddled, basted in seasoned butter and lard, then served in a buttered split-top bun with housemade condiments, including sweet pickles, smothered onions, slaw and tomato relish—for the boys of Sixpoint, who naturally provided the brews. Well, everyone but brewmaster Shane Welch that is, who, as a vegetarian, had to make do with a Bark dog made of tofu.
  • Here's hoping they're hot dogs with casings. Did anyone notice the comic book store next door? From the outside I thought it was a high end wine shop.

    :D:D:D
  • Yay for natural casings! Hot dogs without them just don't have that snap.
  • In other dog news, I had a deelicious merguez from the Le Gamin truck that lingers around GAP most Saturdays. (I am a lamb dog lover. Montreal merguez, Icelandic pylsur, mmmmm)
  • idlewild:

actually lululemon JUST opened up next door to bark. (it's high end yoga clothing for those who are unaware).

the comic store is one more shop down from there.

    that strip is awesome.
  • The folks at Bark told me they're opening up some time next week. In the meanwhile they seem to be doing soft openings and I have to tell you the smell of those french fries circulating on the street is pretty intoxicating.
  • that strip is awesome.

Don't forget the new bike/skateboard shop on that block (I don't remember the name, it's about 2 doors down from Bark). Real nice space and the people that run it seem really nice too.
  • Opening on this Wednesday!
  • Bark is alright. I've had the same type of hot dogs when I was up in Maine, the difference being they weren't $4+ a pop. And the dills were free. I'm not sure if folks are going to go for Bark, not because of the quality and taste, which is pretty good on both counts, but because of the hefty price tag. Especially when you have a ton of other hot dog places scattered through out New York City who charge much less and can be very good as well. Except for Nathan's, I can't stand Nathan's.
  • do they happen to have veggie hot dogs? there's a place in park slope that makes a very yummy one..
  • i think bark is awesome. i've already been twice.

it's like the franny's of hot dogs though. they aren't cheap, but you can tell they are quality and all of the toppings are made with care.

a single hotdog is enough for me, and the fries are good too. i don't think 7 or 8 bucks for dinner is too expensive.

    the buns are RIDICULOUSLY good!
  • here's the menu if you want to take a look:

    http://barkhotdogs.com/
  • Mmmmmm........ Disco fries!!!!!!!

That breakfast menu also looks awesome. I could go for one of tose breakfast sandwiches. Or shrimp and grits!
  • shrimp and grits?!?! woooooooooo!
  • gotta say, nice of them to not leave vegetarians out in the cold: veggie dog and veggie sausage on the breakfast menu. Nice.
  • wow. just got back from Bark and it is outstanding. it is also pricy: two dogs, two root beers, a gravy fry and a tiny side of brisket chili for 27 dollars, including tip. but really tasty. best part is that they are open til 2 am on the weekends. rejoice.
  • How late are they open on weeknights?
Could be a good option for a quick, late-night dinner.
  • they're beer is on the cheap side which is nice.
  • God it's good! Went before the AC show at the park on Friday. Chili Cheese dog and Kraut dog. Both amazing with a snappy casing. Can't wait to try the disco fries and shrimp and grits. I know $11 for 2 hot dogs is a little crazy, but I shouldn't be eating hot dogs every day anyway.
  • we went on sunday. minuses - it just took a really really long time for our order to come up, the portions are small, fries were soggy, and the seating is a little awkward, particularly with kids (and hotdogs=kids). plusses - the rest of the food was great, diverse menu for a hotdog place, $3 beer, and the inside is pretty (for a hotdog place).
  • finally went. the food was DELICIOUS. if i just think of it as $28 for 2 of us to eat and drink beer, then i'm ok with the price. to think of it as $28 for 2 of us to eat hotdogs and fries and drink beer, seems high. i thought the food was great, but i never would think of hotdogs as fancy food, but the veggie hotdog was delicious. the fries were small-portioned, but good. and the Bark Red Ale was great - and for $3 a cup, it was the cheapest part of the meal. I won't go all the time, but it was nice for a once-in-a-while meal.
