Only saying that, in the end, a person has the freedom to believe whatever they want, all other factors aside.
Less horses flagellated that way. -
BrooklynBoyyee wrote: I hope you understand that this debate is about murder, not by alcohol, not by marijuana, but by guns, used by Mexican drug cartels. I'm not promoting that legal alcohol is not worse than illegal pot. I'm suggesting that money spent on pot funds drug operations that utilize your twenty or fifty or whatever dollars into purchasing firearms as a means of asserting power and influence in the Mexican drug trade.
The drug cartels get much greater benefit from the portion of MerdithB's taxes that fund the "War on Drugs" than from what he spends on a dime bag. -

No dispute.
There are thousands of trucks like this rolling around the US all day everyday.

i don't get it.
the pot that people buy in nyc comes primarily from mexico?
what about upstate new york? vermont? canada? you know... places that are infinitely closer. it just doesn't make sense to me. -
OH NO! ACTUAL PROOF! DENY MEREDITH! DENY IT!

the whole operation and arrest was probably arranged by the DEA
 -

in the southern US, sure. but here? really? -

no. no one said that. -

i'm sure there's some mexican weed in NY, but probably not the majority of it, no. -

This is totally ridiculous. The only proof that anyone has is from the DOJ. Believe that shit if you want.
Like I stated, no dealer or grower is going to admit to being a dealer or grower. Getting an actual fact is going to be tough here.
One plant of marijuana can produce 3/4 - 1 lb of weed. You can grow six plants in a small closet. Why anyone would buy Mexican weed is beyond me. Does it happen? Sure. Heck, people still drink PBR. But are the Mexican drug cartels a MAJOR player in the marijuana business? I seriously doubt it based on knowing quite a few growers here in the USA and the amount of marijuana they produce. -
why would weed necessarily be any more locally grown than what's on offer at the supermarket? surely market forces -- and climate and cost of labor and economies of scale -- apply here as much as they apply to the produce section.
BrooklynBoyyee, you left out the getriconfrontational redirect. (your n00b is showing.) -

Because one tomato plant = maybe $50 in tomatoes, one marijuana plant = $3000 - $5000 in weed all in the same amount of space. -

anecdotal evidence FTW! -

So fucking what? We're talking about something in which there is no evidence except by the DOJ?
Get it? I doubt it. -

what about these links people are posting?
like the last one, with 25,000 pounds of weed in a 18-wheeler? DOJ set it up? -
that last article is pretty interesting, actually. if you believe the LIES, that is.

Let's all bow down the great Mr. Met.
He is so right always. He is right on this issue. He is right on every issue. He can search Google and provide links. He is a Godsend to this forum and to Brooklyn itself.
Thank you Mr. Met. You are just so wonderful I do not know how I can ever think of being as smart and knowledgeable as you are.
Sorry, but I just asked the three dealers I get my weed from and they said theirs in grown in Florida and New York state so I believe that. And since most of the people I know do not smoke Mexican schwag, (which apparently you have a fondness for) I will believe what I want despite your whining and your links. -

it's a fun, easy way to find something known as "valuable information"Sorry, but I just asked the three dealers I get my weed from
well that settles that! And since most of the people I know do not smoke Mexican schwag, (which apparently you have a fondness for)
ouch! -
Can't we all just smoke a fatty and agree that (to steal from Gordon Gekko) "weed is good"?
nah.....carry on -

I was just checking out that link. Why does New York produce so much hay?
$35,803,591,000 total production of marijuana in the USA, by the USA.
6.6 million cannabis plants grown mostly by Mexican cartels in 2007 (according to the NYT link), 56.4 million plants grown in the USA by the USA in 2006 (I'm sure there were more in 2007)
-
"weed is good"? - epic win
-
Carnivore wrote: I was just checking out that link. Why does New York produce so much hay?
They grow it where the horses are and less risk during transportation. (maybe the Mexican drug cartels could learn a think or two)

okay, reading comprehension helps here.
that report is about the amount of weed GROWN in the country, not how much weed connected to Mexican cartels that is sold inside the the United States.
so, that just says what Mexican cartels have grown on U.S. soil. do you think they probably grew more on their own soil and then transported it here? -

thank you. thankyouverymuch

Actually, reasonable assumption based on the facts helps here too. -
Me and my cat just smoked a spliff.
We're going to watch The Big Lebowski now.
Peace out Brooklynian. Sweet thread!
