Optimum, Verizon and Direct TV — Brooklynian

Optimum, Verizon and Direct TV

OK, so the millionth Optimum TV/Internet/Phone service ad for $29.99 per month has finally enticed me enough to try it BUT I am going to my Brooklynians for feedback first.
I live between Vandy and Carlton on Prospect Place. I had Direct TV but the outages were driving me crazy and in order to get to my dish, the guys had to go through the sky light on the fourth floor apartment. I had the minimum plan and was not about to pay a monthly fee for a service they should provide SO I decided to go without television at all. Committed to a year of no TV and it can be done.
I have a Verizon landphone and DHL (lol) and a cell phone. I must have the land phone and will not bundle for a variety of reasons. My best friend lives upstairs and thought that I could take his second Direct TV receiver (his roommate moved out) and have DTV just redirect the cable down one flight and consider it part of the same household? My friend has "the works" and doesn't pay a fee for home visits/repairs.
I don't think Cablevision is on our block?
Anyway, something has to be better and cheaper than this set up but maybe not.
Is there anyone who took the $29.99 Optimum TV deal? What happens after the year. I don't care about HD just getting local news, Public TV, History, Movies, etc.
Thanks!

  • If intermittent service is frustrating to you, the last thing you want to do to move TO Optimum Online/Cablevision (same company).

After 12 months, the $29.99/service goes up to $49.95/service.
  • ](*,) Thank you very much. Also went back to an earlier post. Our dear Brooklyn and customer service.
  • When the Optimum triple play expires after a year, expect to pay around $160 for all three services. The retention reps will not give you a break. I've since cancelled voice, I'm with T-mobile @ home for $10 a month unlimited calling now and I will cancel TV when the baseball season is over.

I take it that you're not a Mets fan. :D
  • Yeah, I now pay $149.99 a month for all three
  • Thanks...however it is good of you to volunteer the information. Some folks are very good at finding deals and then switching before the increase. That's not my mo these days.
