African-Hungarians, Prospect Heights and you
A few people might not realize that the borders of the African-Hungarian empire extends into Prospect Heights. Luckily for the under-informed, you have a chance to be re-educated on Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum. As part of Extremely Hungary and First Saturdays, local composer/bandleader Raul will use various elements of rhythm and melody (also known as "music") to reintegrate residents into the full spirit of the African-Hungarianism.
"I am very proud that I have been deemed a representative of Hungarian culture," proclaimed raulism, "My Mom would be very proud. She raised me on paprikas chicken and gulyas, so her hard work finally paid off."
raulism will be joined by the other diplomats of his African-Hungarian contingent known as Dallam-Dougou. Famoro Dioubate (of Guinea) will play the balafon; Ljova Zhurbin will play viola; Sylvain Leroux - flutes; Avram Fefer - sax; Andy Algire - drums; and Tim Abdella Fuson will play guinbre and bendir. Special appearance by Missia Saran "La Tigresse" Dioubate. Raul will play cello, utogardon and nyanyeru.
Please to join us at the Brooklyn Museum from 5-7 pm on Saturday October 3rd.
In preparation, you can try to eat the spaetzle ("almost as good as my grandmother's") at Flatbush Farm or anything at Fatima African Restaurant at 789 Franklin ("this place fed us as we recorded Dununya back in 2007").

Caught your show last night and really enjoyed the music. Also enjoyed the music of the wacky Hungarian opera composer who lived in the Bronx and found it fit to combine orgies and the crucifixion in one work.... My dad grew up in Hungary and I'm glad we Magyars are finally getting a little play in NYC!
Howdy, Stranger!
