Fifth DDDB Walkathon this Saturday!
Atlantic Yards just gets worse! Current formulation: one mediocre arena and acres of parking lots, $200 million in subsidies to make a Russian oligarch richer and the city of New York poorer. All those promises about affordable housing, green space....well, maybe someday. Or not. The rich guy will see if he feels like it.
We can stop this corrupt land-grab and replace it with sensible and sustainable development. One suit was argued in front of New York's highest court yesterday, another filed against the MTA two days ago. (The case against the MTA? Fare hikes and service cuts for riders, big discounts and easy credit for Bruce Ratner.)
But law costs money, so please help by donating or joining the Walkathon:

The walk will feature hundreds of walkers and start at Borough Hall and finish with a community party in Fort Greene's Habana Outpost.
The walk route extends about 2.3 miles (the longest Walkathon yet, but still quite manageable).
1pm -- 2pm : SIGN IN:
Visit our tables at Brooklyn Borough Hall to pick up your registration (or to register if you haven't already done so).
2 pm - 4pm:
Join the Grand Marshall for the Walkathon route through Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn's crossroads, Prospect Heights and concluding in Fort Greene
5:00pm onward...
Community party at the walk's conclusion at Habana Outpost.
