Don’t let the Autumn leaf fall go to Waste! — Brooklynian

Don’t let the Autumn leaf fall go to Waste!

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
NYC will not be collecting and composting fall leaves again this year; but the Prospect Heights Community Farm (a local community garden) will. We are located on St. Marks btwn Vanderbilt and Underhill, on the South side of the street.

In collaboration with NYCleaves, donations will be weighed with the totals forwarded to our city council members to show interest in re-instating municipal collection.

Collection times will be November 7th and 8th, the 14th, and the 21st and 22nd from 11am to 1pm. Please bring your contributions in clear plastic or preferably paper bags. We can also accept pumpkins or other fruit/vegetable scraps.

Don’t let it all go to waste, tell you neighbors and friends. Finished compost is used in the garden, distributed to local residents, and also used to feed street trees in Prospect Heights.

Residents of other Brooklyn neighborhoods can find a local participating garden here: http://nycleaves.org/bkdecay/

  • WHERE is the Prospect Heights Community Farm?
Might be useful to know before I set out with all my bags filled with leaves....
  • do we get compensated for it somehow?
