  • my husband is missing his keys from last night -- but i don't know if they were with a jacket. are they any distinguishable keychains attached to the keys?

ordinary chain with a shopper card for discounts and car keys and house keys. lots of keys! the blazer has an identifiable pin from an organization on its lapel.
  • ah, bummer -- not ours. thanks!
  • Left unattended? If you see something you need to report it. . .
  • Wonder if it was property of the guy who got mugged. You may want to check in that thread just to make sure.

If you are really feeling nice you can usually bring the tags to customer service (grocery,Blockbuster, gym, drug store) they scan the bar code and call the person to pick up the jacket and keys.

my understanding was that he was jumped without being mugged - but a good call seeing that he may have lost this in the struggle!
  • ...in line with this, I went to Pinchik to get keys made for my husband who lost his and they couldn't copy one of the keys because they don't carry that core -- anyone have good suggestions of somewhere else to go to get a key made?

    Lowes
  • ^more than half of the keys I had made at Lowes didn't work. I don't think their people are well-trained. I'd find a hardware store (I'm in PS, so not sure what's close to you - but Tarzian on 7th Ave has made keys for me and they all worked)
  • thanks! I will check out Tarzain and then I'll head toLowes/HomeDepot (if I can figure out how to walk there on highway on ramps...) if they don't have the core.
  • Maybe try the locksmith on Flatbush at Prospect (next to 'da cake spott'). I would imagine that they have a good selection of blanks.

I've gotten bad keys at Tarzain, but never at Leopoldi's (5th Ave between 7/8th Sts). Several friends have gotten useless copies at Lowes.[/code]
  • R&A hardware on 5th ave across from Key foods (well sorta across) has made all my keys.
  • I got keys made at the newish locksmith on Flatbush next to "Da Cake Spott." No problems.

In the past when I've had keys made by a locksmith that didn't work, I brought them back and made them try again. If they still didn't work, I got a refund. Don't accept keys that don't work from a locksmith.
  • thanks!! after a fiasco at Target today I didn't get out to anywhere. I guess the husband will be relying on me a bit the next few days to get into the apartment.. hopefully Tuesday I can check out these suggestions to see if they can help.
